After days of searching for campsites for our first camping trip in our folding camper to no avail, using the availability on websites. I thought I had missed out on a booking for The Burton Constable campsite. When I went back to it, it said no availability for the date I wanted. I decided to ring them as it showed a pitch for a caravan available on a super pitch. When I told her that I had missed out on a grass pitch, I was told they still had them, and she was surprised they hadn't gone!!! It is costly, but I was happy to pay. From now on I will ring and double check, and I won't believe what the availability checker says in future.
p.s. Burton Constable - All facilities are open.
Also Middlewood Farm Robin Hoods Bay - All facilities open. I booked this too, after ringing them and told them there book now, wasn't working, and managed to get a pitch.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

The direct approach is always best. It's the same as CAMC sites, website shows full but people phone and manage to get on.
From what I have heard of C&MC sites, some members book loads of them at once and cancel as the dates draw near, just to make sure they get the ones they want. That's probably why the website shows full. As I understand it the C&MC doesn't take a deposit for booking, which causes this problem.
