Hi, does anyone have any recommendations for campsites on the banks or very close to the River Thames please? I appreciate that the Thames is a huge river but we are quite happy to consider anywhere on it as we will be kayaking. A campsite near a pub would be even better. Thanks very much in advance for your help.

Bridge House campsite at Lechlade is closed until next year but well worth visiting when it is open again. Access directly to the river and a pub across one field.

There is another Bridge House campsite at Clifton Hampden near Abingdon which is right on the riverside with a pub alongside. It is open by prior booking only.

Laleham campsite is next to the Thames and a short walk from the pubs by Chertsey Bridge.

There is also Hurley Lock campsite which is on an island and only open to campers who arrive by kayak, canoe or on foot.

Hurley is a nice stretch of Thames, lovely and clear.

If you're kayaking many of the locks have overnight camping, days lock and Hurley lock have a look at the Thames rive camping if you have a canoe club license you can camp anywhere along the Thames you can get your equipment between river and tow path, within reason

you might try Bridge House

Couldn't get any closer the Thames unless you fell in nice pub just through a gate on site. Dodgy entrance though if you have a long unit

Start at the begining of the river at Thames Head Inn - and you can't get nearer to a pub than that.

Wallingford has a really nice campsite just across the bridge from the town. Loads of red kites to watch too!

Another vote for Hurley Riverside - been a couple of times and love it there (last time 2 weeks ago). Has own slipway and we kayaked / swam - Hurley lock Is just a short walk away.

Also Hurley has a wier that I think you can kayak, but did not do that so best check it out.
