Have a look at where the Dark Sky Parks are. Link to the Site Search on UKCS. I can’t make any suggestions for England, but many sites in Dumfries & Galloway are good for night skies. I was on a largely static site on the Solway shore recently where the Milky Way was very clear because of the absence of light pollution. Too far for you but next year maybe!
Drumroamin gave me a lovely view of the Milky way when I was there - a good site for anyone visiting the area with a view to star-gazing. No help to the OP though - hope you find what you're looking for!
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
Thanks everyone. Kelling Heath is between Holt and Sheringham so I assumed it would have some light pollution but I'll check out the dark skies map.
Yes Scotland is too far, but the company I work for is based in Scotland so I might have to arrange a meeting up there soon and take a couple of days off after.
Exmoor might be a bit far but it’s the home of some of the darkest skies in the country.
Halse Farm at Winsford is on Exmoor, just a 2minute walk gets you onto Winsford Hill, not far to drive to Dunkery Beacon the highest point On the moor.
The link above is for the dark sky festival in October.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Deers Mead inky black, no light pollution. In fact I was lying on my back, no jokes please, just last week whilst there watching it all go by.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
For another year, any of the coastal Dumfries & Galloway sites - yes, Drumroamin but also Solway View near Kirkcudbright is superb, or even Sandyhills.... and others inland, if they’re away from town street lighting & don’t have Site lights.
Then head up to Argyll or the west coast of Arran....
