Anyone been to Stonehenge Caravan Park? We are supposed to going end of the month but have just found out that for the week that we are there, they are having day and night firing on all three ranges.
We have a dog that is very nervous about gunshots and will shake all day and night. Apparently the gunshots from Larkhill range although 5 miles away can be heard at this caravan park? Probably more of a concern is heavy shelling etc.
Can any one confirm the noise from either rifle fire, heavy artillery and ground rumbling as don't want to upset a dog that is going to take weeks to recover and then we have Bonfire night? Our other two dogs don't even bat an eyelid. Thanks.

Why not look at the reviews on Campsite search on this forum. Perhaps other campers have mentioned the noise.
I did but only one post mentioned firing schedules which then gave rise to my concern.
I live in Devizes which is quite a distance from the nearest firing range, and I could hear rumbling noises indoors with all the windows and doors closed when they fire during the day. Can't remember hearing them in the evening and at night.
IMHO, live firing exercises come with the territory so to speak, living in this part of the country.
My advice would be to avoid the camp site if one has a nervous dog.
Dog ear muffs may help. I bought Mutt Muffs for my dog in case he was startled by wind noises and they helped.

Can't speak for Stonehenge but regularly stay around Otterburn and yes, you hear the ranges, especially when the tanks are firing. I'd not take a nervous dog, tbh.

Some people say no problem and others say noise is a problem. I must admit we are still undecided. The nearest range is at Larkshill which is about 5 miles away.

As I had mentioned, I could hear rumbling noises and the windows would creek during live firing at home, and I live about 20 miles away from Salisbury!!!

There hasn't been any firing around here for months and even when there is it's like distant thunder, nothing to be worried about and I live just down the road from that site.
I wondered if live firing had to be advertised or notified, so I googled that. This came up, dated 2018 so don’t know if it’s still valid? (The risk referred to was a repeat of an episode where the live rounds set fire to the firing area.)
From The Telegraph:
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation, part of the MoD, announced the decision on Twitter, stating: “We have reviewed the risks of continuing live firing on Salisbury Plain training area and have made the decision to cease artillery live firing on the Salisbury Plain training area until further notice.”12 Jul 2018
I have asked in the local FB group if live firing is still happening, and shall report back as soon as I have more information.

stonehenge touring park is an excellent site, the firing sounds like thunder in the distance and is over quickly.the noise level is less than walking down a road with heavy traffic.i think the dog should be fine
