We’ve been members of the C&CC for 12yrs and recently joined CAMC. In all that time, We have never done a rally, meet or THS. Up to this yr, we have not really used our on board facilities, but due to Covid, we’ve had to. No problems as we now have a lovely end bathroom and good sized shower. So that wouldn’t be a problem. The problem is where they say they have limited EHU , that’s avail on a first come basis. Due to work and school, we can not really even get to a local ish site before 5.30, by which time, the EHU’s will have all gone.
Need EHU as OH regularly has to work via laptop and phone at weekends, plus we need to use motor mover to get out of and into storage. It looks like we will never be able to access this type of camping.
How do others get on?

When you book your pitch at a THS or a pop up site you book the EHU if it’s available, when you turn up it’s there for you

you wont gt an ehu at a rallie, unless your one of the favoured few who attend at 1 min after opening time or on the elite list!

with a 110 amp battery and a 120 watt solar panel you should be able to keep your phones and lap tops charged using 12 v sockets if concerned do a trial run close to home and see how long you can go, then you can relax and enjoy being away

I have used THS for 28 days with just a 80w panel and a 110 battery. If you get a 12V adaptor for the laptop and use USB for phones, tablets etc you should not have a problem unless you want to run a 40"+ TV as well!
Its surprising how quickly you get charge back into even a lead acid battery. In very warm weather the biggest problem that I find is the gas consumption of the fridge and then I make sure that I turn it down a few notches and keep an eye on the contents. I would guess that many of the older people on here will remember the days of gas lights and no fridges and certainly no battery or ehu and we still managed to have fantastic holidays.

We only do rallies with EHU and it seems that the C&CC do not favour rallies with EHU which is why we are with CMC.
However to resolve your problem during the summer I would suggest a solar panel of at least 100w.

I’ve just joined CAMC but didn’t realise they did rallies. How do you find out about them?
Hi Gail, we have just returned from a two week CMC rally on a beachside site paying less than £14 a night with EHU.
Rallies can be difficult to find on the club site, live chat may help you locate them, in the What’s On section.
