We are booked on a site in Northern Ireland from 10th October for a week, really want to go and social distancing is not an issue in the van as you will all appreciate. But...the dreaded possibility of a 2 week lockdown is circulating the rumour mill :( I have not booked ferry crossings as yet and am hoping that I can leave them till fairly last minute, looking to use Tesco points on a Stranraer/Larne crossing. wish I had a crystal ball.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Yeah you need one we went to Conwy in Wales in September can't go now, the problem is that the notice of change of restrictions are so short, you can't just hitch up and drive home, you have to book ferry etc, if you do go if you bump into any of my relatives say hello, I'm from Belfast now living in Derbyshire
At the moment ANY area, even your own could be placed in lockdown, although at this time of the year there is plenty of room on the ferries, therefore there would be no problem hitching up and driving home.
IMO as long you social distance there should be no problem, at the moment a caravan/motorhome is the only place for any sort of a break.
It will be a l o n g, l o n g winter, so take any pleasure while you can
I’m from Northern Ireland and although I now live in England, my family is still in NI. They live in County Down which was one of the least affected parts but even where they live, the local primary school has just had to close and cases are rising quickly. I was talking to my brother last night and he thinks there are going to be tougher restrictions very soon. Of course, this is just local speculation and no one knows what will happen but in the first wave NI had relatively few cases but a very strict lockdown so what they will do now that they have such a surge in cases will be interesting to see.
Yes in NI there is much discussion of new restrictions, they're calling them circuit breakers due to the increases in the border areas that previously had extremely low number of cases. They have indicated this will probably coincide with the school half term week (26th Oct) though it's unclear if that will include a week before or after as well. We have enjoyed a number of camping trips since lockdown, felt no concerns on the sites at all. Unfortunately it's the same frustrating picture everywhere.
They're talking about a "circuit breaker" AKA lockdown over the half-term
holiday period with various businesses, sports etc. being suspended for 2 weeks. Schools would be closed anyway.
No talk as yet of travel restrictions.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
Well we went and had a lovely time, great site at Bushmills, lovely area and although further restrictions come in to play today they won’t affect our departure tomorrow
