Our daughter can’t get home for Xmas from Thailand. First ever Xmas apart and she is devastated, we are too.
So we have booked into Caravan Club Site at Bridlington, Xmas eve for 5 nights.
What will it be like?
I see that most Club Sites are fully booked so it must be popular.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Don't know about club sites as we don't use them, but we always go away to small sites, put up a few decorations, cook Christmas dinner in the caravan, rather than being served indifferent food in a pub, eat and drink too much. We always enjoy it. We try to go somewhere scenic, Anglesey this year hopefully.

Very similar to what we do. Away from all the drama of family reunion or should that be arguments etc.
We have gone away last couple of Christmas' usually just after till new year. Tended to go for HS pitches as cleaner and pick an area with plenty of walking from site. A good way to get some peace & quiet after the busyness of the day itself.

Definitely not for us, the idea of being stuck in a caravan over Christmas doesn't appeal at all. It would be a last resort if our house became uninhabitable. Our caravan is always laid up from about now until April at the very earliest and only then if the weather is exceptionally good. If we go anywhere over Christmas, which seems unlikely at the moment, it will be to somewhere where we can get pampered and waited on, and relax in front of a nice big log fire.
Good job we are all different, and each to their own I say!
Only been away in the caravan at Christmas once while the house was being renovated. Stayed at Chatsworth. We thought we would be the only ones there. How wrong we were. It was lovely with all the lights and decorations. Everybody really made the effort. Took all the prepared M&S food with us. Walked out onto the park in the mornings and along to Baslow for the obligatory lunchtime pint. Enjoy.
------------- Taking off is optional - Landing is mandatory!
I have only camped over Christmas once at Devizes C&CC's club site, and it was quite busy.
There was no organised activities on site, and the campers just enjoyed some peace and quiet in their respective units.
It was bliss!

If anyone has not booked, get booking! I am having the devil's own job trying to find a site near Chester/Wrexham for a stop over. They are either full or not taking bookings. I have a site for 1st and last, north Warwickshire and the main one on Anglesey.
Good luck to all those who want to get away in a caravan over Christmas, I sincerely hope you have a great time.
Caravanning for us is definitely a summer activity. The main reason we go away with our caravan is to get out and about in a different area from where we live, not to sit in our caravan. We hardly spend any time inside, or even on the site, we are off exploring. For that we want everything open. We want to be able to lay out in the sun and go for walks wearing just summer clothes. We see little point in going away with our caravan to do things we could do just as well, if not better, at home.
Still, I see it as great that we are all different, it would be a boring old world if we were all the same.
Recently left Spain, on our way through France, had enough hot weather for now.
And Colin, we will be out and about, Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough which hopefully won’t be crowded over the Christmas period.
Sounds like the sites will be quite festive and busy , which is great.

Have a great time! I must re-visit Scarborough one of these days. Our girls were only at primary school last time we went there, and the oldest of them now has a 25 year old daughter! We'll leave it until summer time though.

If the CMC site at Bridlington had a Common room, or Club house, or bar/bistro with a band, or some facilities where Christmas cheer and Christmas festivities could be set up, or a big bonfire with fireworks and a hog roast, then it might tempt me - but what will there be beyond mince pies in the office with the warden? It's a No from me.
I shall be out and about with the dog, like going to the beaches as they will be opened in their entirety to dogs in winter.
I have also planned to have a couple of meals out.
I shall take some DVDs with me for evening entertainment if required, to be used with bluetooth earbugs so that I do not annoy the camping neighbours.
There will be plenty to read too, and I shall have internet access, so no worries if the weather is bad.
Can't wait!

That always used to bug us when we had our dog, not being able to take him on the beach. I don't think he liked the cold much more than we do, as he never wanted to go far from the house in the winter. Just did what he had to do and turned round with a "please take me home now" look on his face. He was very stubborn and wouldn't go on if he didn't want to. Especially in his latter years.
