I am not sure if this is the right thread to post this on, but would like to ask advice, I have am on a seasonal pitch which is March to November we have obviously been informed we can not go tour caravan till 12th April at the earliest and it will be May before we can use any facilities as per government regulations which I fully agree with. but we have been told we still have to pay our full fees by 12th March there will be no refunds no extensions as they have suffered financially if we are not happy they have 100s on the waiting list clear off, where do we stand legally
many thanks

Whether or not you can use it I would say fees still apply as it is on their land. Once on a pitch some owners could use the caravan all the time whilst others only at odd times but they will still have to pay the full rent.

Unfortunately they are correct in what they say about long waiting lists. I was considering a seasonal pitch a while back and looked at a few in the areas we were interested in. They were all full with long waiting lists.
If you want to stay there, I don’t think you have any option but to pay up.
The law would only come into it if you have signed a written contract that detailed exactly what they were contracted to provide for the money. What facilities, which dates etc.
It really is the Wild West with site owners calling all the shots. A few seasonal people have had proper refunds, a few have had a bit of money off or an extra month, but most seem to have got nothing for wasted weeks in 2020.

“they have suffered financially if we are not happy they have 100s on the waiting list clear off, “
Hope “clear off” isn’t quoting the site’s response but they were paying rates etc when it was closed, like so many restaurants & other businesses.
I expect it’s too late to take your custom elsewhere this year, so enjoy your holidays there for now & start looking for next year’s site.
I think it is at the discretion of owners. Last year we received roughly a third refunded from the site we were on (which we were delighted with). We then moved to a new site (nothing to do with covid, had been planning a change for a while) and new site passed on the VAT relief to seasonals which was a good reduction in yearly fees. My friend, on the other hand, pays 4k per year for her cabin got nowt refunded.
I would have thought that the site owners were perfectly entitled to charge for the period of time you have a caravan on their site, whether you are using it or not. You are still occupying a pitch and it's not their fault you are not using it. Ok, so it may not be your fault either, but it's their land and your caravan is still occupying it.
