We are hoping to stay somewhere around the Bakewell area in early June. We normally like CL or smallish sites. It would be nice to be close to a village with pub but not essential. Likewise we enjoy cycling so anywhere with cycle paths nearby would be a plus. Just hubby and myself with a caravan.

The Site Search on UKCS shows 17 sites within 5 miles of Bakewell that take caravans, which is a huge choice. Some photos look like small independent sites, not necessarily a CAMC CL. Sites with 9 or 10 star reviews will be good. I can’t be specific though, you’ll get lots of suggestions soon.

How close to Bakewell do you want to be? Do you want to be within 10 miles or so, or do you want to be on the doorstep?

We are happy to be in the area so up to 10 miles would be absolutely fine.

2 pub sites with campsite attached - Duke of York at Pomeroy and Jug and Glass Hartington, both on the A515 and near to the cycle path at Hartington Station. Wouldn't go for any the sites at Hulme End if you like it quiet as they tend to be rammed full in the summer although you have the Manifold track on your doorstep.
Or have a look for a site around the Monsal Trail.

Mooredge Farm at Crich we liked - proper farm CL, but within a short walk of the town and its pubs, chippy etc. I also found another nice pub about 15 mins walk along the footpath in the opposite direction - great walking.
Probably a bit quieter than some of the ones around Matlock which I expect will be manic this summer :(

There are a couple of small sites in Monyash. About a 5 min drive from Bakewell.

Have a look at Dale farm in great longstone. We stayed there for the first time when they reopened on 12th April. 4 pubs within a mile and not far from the Monsal trail straight into Bakewell. (cycle or walk, about 5 miles) Great little farm site but very popular.

Tax Farm near Matlock is lovely. We are due to go to Newhaven Lodge later in the year, good reviews on the CAMC website and is near the tracks, straight in off the A515.

We also like cycling and quite often stay at Bruntcliffe farm cL. It’s right on the high peak trail, about 2 miles from Parsley Hay at the top of the Tissington trail which takes you down to Ashbourne.
We also put the bikes on the back of the car and it’s just a short drive to the Monsal trail into Bakewell.
