We are planning on going to Isle of Wight in July with our touring caravan.
Unable to decide which crossing with Wight link. (as using tesco vouchers)
Can anyone recommend a campsite near Lymington ferry or Portsmouth ferry to access terminal by 7.30am next morning.
We have stayed at Rookesbury in past near Portsmouth, but wondering if we go from Lymington if we will have more choice of cheaper places to overnight.
We are 2 adults and 3 small dogs.
Any recommendations?
Regards
Gail
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We are looking at the cheapest options, as prices escalate at later crossings. As shift workers we are used to being up early, so suits us to be up and away.
We have now booked Lymington crossing for 7.30 and hope to stay in Brockenhurst area.
Thanks

Remember you still cannot get onto the campsite until 12pm so you need to find somewhere on the island to park up for a couple of hours and that may not be easy. If a member of the CAMC a CL or one of their sites may be okay.
Which campsite are you going to on the Island? Southland are letting people on early but you would be very limited for pitches as most people don't leave that early, they do have an early arrivals area for about 4 units. We know this because we are here for the season.
There really isn't anywhere to park up on the Island to waste a bit of time with a car and caravan.
Ferries are generally cheaper if you avoid sailings from Friday to Monday. Time of the crossing alters the fare considerably during the day with trips at anti social hours being the cheapest but there are not many places to park up and wait for a campsite to open if you are towing.
Southampton sailings by Red Funnel are cheaper than the other routes by Wightlink. CAMC give discounts on both operators crossings, the other club may do as well. Some campsites do packages including the ferry and pitch which work out cheaper than booking each bit separately.
We've booked at Grange Farm campsite which is on the south-west coast of IOW for a week in late July. They gave us a rate for the Wightlink ferry crossing for our car, caravan and 2 adults of just under £100 each way (crossing at around midday on a Sunday) which was far, far cheaper than booking directly with the ferry company.
Redfunnel from Southampton would have been about £10 each way cheaper still.
