To those of you booking a camping pitch and not showing or cancelling, shame on you. If you were to even phone up to say you weren't coming, that would help. Like restaurants, campsite owner are turning down bookings then it is too late to fill them. Look after our site owners, we need them to be a healthy business.

It's madness.
I recently called our water company up because we had a drop in water pressure. The said they were really busy and short staffed but would send someone out that day. I then saw one of my kids had left the outside tap on full and that was the cause. I called the water company to cancel the call-out and the person on the phone was taken aback. What has society come to! Folk complain when prices increase yet it is folk's laziness and attitudes that often cause the increases in the first place.

That sounds quite reasonable to me Fiona, I'd certainly have no problem with that. The idea that people would simply not turn up annoys me, and it would really anger me if I was a site operator. Very inconsiderate.

In my opinion sites at the moment should charge a sizeable deposit returnable on leaving site. This would reduce the no shows and would also stop idiots leaving their tents and gear on site at the end of their holiday.
A site that I have used for years is not opening until September this year when the proper campers return, due to the amount of abandoned equipment that they have had to pay to be taken away in skips.
