Now at Stocking Farm, Calver and now we are the only folk here. We were at Newhaven Lodge CL and it was never full either. It's been the same all year.

You must be one of the few with sense and booking CS's and CL's rather than big commercial sites which are full to capacity. I know which I'd sooner be on...

We’re just home from Spital Caravans at Kendal (had a few nights on our way home from picking up the caravan following its service). It has 15 pitches and was about 2/3 full except Friday night when there were only a couple of pitches free.
P.S. Although not a CL/CS it is run on the same lines and well priced at £15 per night (+ £1 per night per dog). Proper review to follow.

We spent 11 nights at a commercial site near Ringwood recently. A lovely quiet site with 60 absolutely HUGE pitches. It was nowhere near full during our stay, although it did get busier over the middle weekend.

I am inclined to think that it is the all-singing, all-dancing sites with bars, club-houses, swimming pools etc that are packed to the gunwales. Just the kind of sites we avoid like the plague!

I think it is that kind of site that would be most likely to attract the crowds who would normally be flying abroad.

We were on holiday in South Wales, mainly around the coast, a couple of weeks ago and all the sites there were more or less full throughout the weekend and the week.

The weekend before last we were at a very laid back site in Wiltshire that we visit a lot. Just a field with toilets/showers and a pub. It was rammed Friday to Sunday but by Monday had plenty of space.

We were supposed to be going to Dorset last weekend but chickened out at the last minute due to the weather, but many sites we looked at there, both 'holiday' and basic, were very busy though there were vacancies at a couple of small CL type sites inland which suited us as we were going for business not pleasure.

Going by this admittedly very limited experience I think it's probably the popular holiday destinations, which have been heavily promoted and 'holiday' sites that are full and the others are ok away from the weekend period.

It's why we normally start our holidays on a Monday, chrisandsandra. I have found this many times before, sites that are full up over the weekend are half-empty on the Monday.

You are right about the typical holiday destinations too. As we did this last time, we tend to go a bit inland rather than right on the coast. We wanted to visit Christchurch and Bournemouth, and that general area, so we chose a site in the New Forest, just 20 minutes drive from Bournemouth. It was lovely, and probably far more peaceful than a coastal site would have been.

At home, 25% of adults locally still not had 1st vaccination. Pleased to say no one died recently but one workmates partner still on ventilation.

Stay safe out there.

Just back from Snowdon Base Camp. Very busy over the weekend but a lot quieter by the time we left on Sunday afternoon.

Blair Atholl. Independent site, no bar or restaurant. Pretty much full, most of the MHs are staying the one night. No CSs in the area. Saw the biggest MH that I’ve ever seen (with tow car): bigger than a police horse box. I do hope they’re not aiming to do the NC500 or there’ll be chaos on those single track roads.

At home at the moment, planning a September trip. When we were away in June for 3 weeks, we started on a Sunday and did go to a C&CC site for 5 nights. It was quite full, but we got a pitch at the far end, nobody behind or on one side, so weren't in the middle of things, which suited us fine. Thanks to the fact we take our cat with us, and had asked for a quiet pitch, as she does like to go out on a lead!   No children at all, as it was school time of course. Then only stayed on 2 small adult only sites, 1 was full just over the weekend, the other not at any time, we were there for 10 nights. A couple of nights we were on our own completely there. Certainly wouldn't want to be on a big site at the moment during school holidays, but then we never did anyway.

We never go away during any of the school holidays either Ina. Haven't done since our youngest left school, and that was 20 years ago.

The C&CC site nearest to where we did go recently told us that they were full when we enquired, and I'm glad they did now as the one we went on was cheaper, even though we are "senior members" of the C&CC and get a discount.

We are also planning a September trip, probably to Norfolk.

Hi All

Just done Cromford Steam Rally Derbyshire. But as we where due to be away this week, we never booked in to stay on site at the rally.
We stayed at Mooredge CL site at Crich for 3 nights instead as to late to book on the main rally site.
Mooredge is a great little site and thank god we did stay there.

Cromford Steam Rally site was a wash out, vans, awnings ruined.
Really feel sorry for those we knew who where on site, as parts of the site, turned into a complete mud bath.
Esp around the trade area, at the bottom of the site.
Hope everyone gets there vans and equipment clean, and had no lasting damage.

Currently at a small independent site that used to be CS, now with Freedom Camping Club.

Only 4 units on the entire site that has no washing up or shower. Toilet on site is a compost one, and poo bags must be fully compostable.

Very quiet and it is lovely.

The drive down was very busy though.

We were in Weymouth late June and site was not that busy. Newbies to the game are probably not aware of CLs and CS sites so they will not be busy plus never known a CL or CS to have a club on site and selling drinks to the tune of loud music. LOL!
