We're looking at joining the C&MH Club because we want to use their CL's - but a lot of the prices we're seeing give a price for the pitch with 2 adults. We've got a daughter who's 18 who'll often be coming with us, so does this mean we'll be charged more as there's 3 of us?
We were members years ago and I thought back then the pricing was per pitch rather than by the number of people, so I'm a bit confused! (We'd get a joint membership and add her on as a family member, so she'd be down as a member of the club). Does anyone have any ideas of how they charge for CL pitches?
Many thanks!

Ah, so if they says something like "Pitch + 2 Adults", then I guess they only allow 2 adults in total. But if it says something like "Pitch + all occupants" we're probably OK for the 3 of us... Thanks for the advice though, we'll definitely have to make sure we check when we book.

no not at all, its just how that site will have set up their pricing, again you would have to pick up the phone to find out about the charge for the additional persson.
but if the site just says pitch + all then all 3 of you are included in that price
often as not you will just see a price per night, that is for everyone in your caravan the only extras are normally the ehu.
I think the days of sites just charging per pitch are long gone. I remember how it used to be like that but not anymore. In my experience, these days most sites seem to charge for a pitch including 2 adults. Some charge extra for dogs, some don't, some charge extra for an awning and some don't. Most however seem to include 2 adults and charge extra for each extra person. Most charge ridiculous extra amounts, in my opinion, for EHU. Often as much as £5 a night, which is twice what we pay at home with all our domestic appliances and gas central heating in a 3 bed house.
Sarah just for reference ok, unlike how Colin suggests, we where away in sept in york on a cl just between the outer ring road and stamford bridge and paid £14 a night and that included the ehu and was priced per pitch, not on how many occupants/awnings/dogs etc. that is the sort of site we tend to use most price wise

Can't remember which CL it was now, but I was looking at some CLs in Scotland, and remember one of them was £16 for pitch + 2, and £23 for pitch and all occupants. So for 1 extra person that would be another £7, so the more extra people, the cheaper per extra person
Some CLs will state how much it is for each extra person above 2 occupants though, but for others, as already stated, you'll have to either ring or email to ask.
TBH whether one or 4 people, more than likely they will still use the same amount of electric. The difference will be water consumption.
We tend to avoid CLs that charge for awning, dogs and anything else they can charge for even if they are the best CL on the network.
Personally these days I just work out the total price and go by that, rather than working out what they charge for each individual item. If I like the look of the site, and it's within my budget, I go there, if it isn't within my budget after adding up all the bits and pieces, I give it a miss however good it looks. There's always somewhere else.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin

Hmm, it's a bit frustrating that it's necessary to phone or email to find out what the total would be - I get that CL's are run individually etc, but it would be really helpful if the C&MH Club website got everyone to publish clearly what they charge for add-ons. Would save a lot of time for everyone! Looking at the C&C Club website, CS's are on the same lines too...
We want to use CL/CS type sites for the vast majority of the time, and trying to decide which club to join (thinking the C&MH club as they have more of these type of sites I think).
We are members of the C&CC although we don't always use their sites. You are right, CSs are very much the same in that they very rarely advertise their rates until you contact them, although if they have their own website or facebook page you can sometime find out that way. The last site we went on last month was a CS in Norfolk and that was very nice and very reasonably priced. I did have to email them to find out the prices though.
I don't know whether there are more CLs than CSs, although I'm inclined to think that like many other aspects of the clubs there is very little in it. One thing I would say is a down-side of the C&CC is that the CSs aren't exactly easy to find from the club's website. Most of the ones we have used I have found on here (UK Campsite). I wouldn't switch clubs though, as generally I prefer the C&CC. I don't like regimented sites and not all of the C&CC larger sites are like that. Hertford and Sandringham for instance have areas where the pitches are random as opposed to all in neat rows either side of a roadway, which we don't really like.
