Was very taken with Monica Galetti's episode of the 'walks with a camera last night on BBC 2- especially when we spotted the lovely campsites in Rosedale. Anyone know if any walks around this area, down to Kirkbymoorside could be considered 'accessible'? Hubby has a new electric wheelchair that he's keen to try out next spring, and it looks to have some 'off road ability'!
Or would we be better sticking to areas where there are old railway lines that have been made into cycle paths? In which case any suggestions for North Yorkshire ?

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
rosedale/hutton area isnt really accessible in a wheel chair, other than using the roads which tend to be narrow and driven along by local budding f1 drivers in corsas! and im struggling to think of anywhere other than osmotherley cote ghyll and a walk round the reservoir.
I enjoyed that program too - especially because there was no background music.
If you have Google Maps, you can add a layer called Cycling. (Tap on the diamond shape top RHS, and choose from Map Layers.) This brings up green lines where there are cycle routes. It shows a loop in the Hutton Le Hole area, but I don’t know how much of this is on minor roads that marg6 warns of, rather than cycle paths (which are shared with other users).
I also use a free app called AllTrails, it shows a circular route from The Moors Inn in that area that’s largely on “ancient stone lanes”.

the sections on the loop you refer too are all c roads, mainly potholed and used by locals. they are very hilly and exposed roads, like i said that area really isnt suitable for the intended use with wheelchair access

Don't forget you can also use add the national cycle routes overlay to ukcampsite.co.uk maps, so you can search for campsites next to cycle routes, and see which cycle routes are near your chosen site

If you head to the coast there is the cinder path from Whitby to Scarborough which follows the old railway line. I love the section from Robin Hoods Bay to Ravenscar.
