Has anyone camped around Loch Lomond in Scotland ? If so where did you stay ? I'm looking into tent camping there for five nights. Any experiences or recommendation welcome. I also heard midges are a bit of a problem there, how do you avoid getting eaten alive whilst camping ?

It all depends on what you want regarding facilities and what you want to do. Do you want to do some walking or some touring in the area.
On the east side of Loch Lomond the CC&C club site is called Milarrochy and further along the road is the Camping in the Forest site called Cashel. Both are lochside sites with access to the water and much quieter with little traffic noise.
Hope you find something that suits your needs.

Check the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park website for camping information. There have been so many problems with camping of all types (dirty camping, burning wood cut off trees, littering, abandoned kit etc) that there are some areas where it’s just not allowed, others where it is but you need a permit etc. The website says where you can pitch a tent off grid.
There’s probably advice on the West Highland Way which goes up the east side, people walk that carrying all their gear.
For sites, check the UKCS Site Search for others in addition to the 2 that WeeAID has mentioned: the directory entries will say when they’re open.
Plenty of threads about the midges and yes, they can be brutal in the evening beside water if there’s no breeze. Stock up on your favourite insect repellent, carry antihistamine cream and enough antihistamine tablets for the trip. Take a midge hood. There again, they might not bother you at all.

I have my eye on a site called Glenloin House at Arrochar which is actually on Loch Long, but not far from Loch Lomond.Cheaper than the others, not sure if it takes tents though.

The directory says it does take tents. But it’s not nearly as scenic as the Loch Lomond sites because there’s a busy main road between you & Loch Long, rather than being able to sit by lapping water of Loch Lomond. (Same midges though!) Good for hill walking, you’re looking over to The Cobbler.
The OP hasn’t said how they’re getting to where they’ll be camping - Loch Long isn’t far from Loch Lomond in a car but it’s a steep up & down between the two if you’re on a bike, and you’re still on the busy west side of Loch Lomond. Quite a trek by whatever means to the quiet east side, unless you get one of the wee boats across.
There used to be more sites on Loch Long but sadly for us the Forestry one went over to lodges & cabins, and the C&CC site lease wasn’t renewed.

We stayed at the cc&c club site in millarocchy sorry about spelling. The site dies take tents. Is very clean and tidy. Staff were excellent. Site right on the loch itself. This was our first visit ti scotland and lived it. Midges were a problem for some people

The OP hasn’t come back. Posted elsewhere about sleeping bags for Loch Lomond and also about midges on the NC500. So I assume they’re travelling in a vehicle or on a motorbike, but may just be passing through in which case the east side is a bit of a long detour.
I like the site at Cashel, just up from Millarochy: less regimented. The Site at Luss that was C&CC is now back with Luss Estates, but it’s quite noisy by the main road.
