Tracey, we’ve been a few times before, but as I said we haven’t had a van for quite a few years so was a while ago. I’m hoping it hasn’t changed much, but when we last went it was amazing. Not too big, the toilet block and washing up facilities were really good. We prefer it to Deers Glade as it’s smaller and quieter.
Hope you enjoy your stay, I’m sure you will, let’s hope the sun comes out for us on Friday.

Thank you, yes we stayed at Deers Glade many years ago when our children were young. We prefer adult only these days so Deers Mead came up on the search. Fingers crossed for you Friday and us in a couple of weeks.

Pinto is doing really well thank you, hard to believe it was 2 years ago yesterday that she arrived during very difficult times. I'd be lying if I said it had all been easy, there have been some issues along the way, but she has settled so well now. She loves camping and I'm hoping to put some trip reports up, just like I used to with my gorgeous boy Bailey

I had to cancel one trip in late October 2022 as the site only has 6A EHU grass pitches, and I do not fancy that in case the weather is foul as it would be a mud bath (been there before and know what it is like).

Found an independent site near me and asked for a quote for the second week of October 2022, and it would be nearly 30 GBP a night without any single person discount (I asked).

So I declined and booked the CAMC club site in Warminster instead for just under 20 GBP a night, and without the need to pay a deposit.

Out of peak times I’ve never found a need to book more than a day ahead with a phone call. We have just signed on for another 5 days until Sunday week to make a total of nearly 3wks here on this site in west Cornwall. Hardly anybody here. A few coming for the weekend but there will still be loads of space.

We are still here because the weather has been reasonable & should be ok next week. Otherwise we would have gone home by now probably. Certainly would not have booked 3wks straight off in case the weather had turned.

Well here we are at Deers Mead. Weather fabulous. Site and amenities are still as good as they were when we last came here. I’m sure you will enjoy it when you arrive.

Yup, your black Lab that loved Fforest Fields.

I missed Borda too, and it was the first anniversary of his death on the last day of our trip to FF, and felt a tad sad and nostalgic thinking about the times when Borda was at FF with me, hey ho!

I found our first visit to FfF without Bailey very emotional. The first time I walked down to the lake on my own though I felt he'd sent me a message to let me know he was still with us, there was a tennis ball floating in the lake but nobody to be seen. People may think I'm daft but this has happened three times now, also at another campsite there was a tennis ball on the pitch when we arrived and also on holiday in Blackpool, walking along the prom!

As much as we loved our visits to FfF, we have found a couple of sites not so far away that we love equally and with the added bonus they are adult only. We will return at some point but it will be once I have retired and we can go when all the kiddiwinks are at school!

I know what you mean!

The first trip without Borda took place shortly after his death and before I had Bean, and I cried every time I saw someone with a dog.

I walked up to the other end of a big field and sat on the bench over looking the field and campsite on my own and sobbed when I recalled the good times we had at this field and campsite. It was very hard.

I'd like to believe he knows he is forever in my heart and never forgotten, along with his dad, both across the rainbow bridge high up in the sky, looking down and smiling at us.

I'm certain they are both looking down with love and also approval that you are giving another lovely soul Bean the opportunity to share your life and adventures 💖 Borda had such adventures with you after the loss of his human. Memories are everything, memories from Fforest Fields are very special for both of us. One thing is certain, we will make many new memories with the new special dogs in our lives, while never forgetting those who's tails still beat in our hearts 🙂
