We are currently in Devon and as we have been driving around in the car for the last week, I have realised why the site we are on gives very specific directions to get here. Some of the roads are a nightmare and there is no way I would want to go anywhere near them with a caravan on the back. We always use the directions provided by the site as Google Maps seems to have a preference for taking the smallest, narrowest and most unsuitable route possible!
Agree about reading the site’s own directions, they have the local knowledge. We once grudgingly took the recommended route as it was definitely the long way round, but found the site entrance was a very acute sharp angle. No problem the way we came but impossible from the other direction with a caravan & would needed a 3 point turn in a narrow lane for us in a MH.
Mind you, that was before Google StreetView, which is a brilliant tool for looking close up at junctions, entrance gates etc.
I'm a fan of Streetview too and also of satellite views of areas. However, my main planning tool is an OS Map.
As we don't have 'Smart phones' or Sat-navs, Mrs.L makes notes of key junctions etc... before we leave home.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

Yup. Never leave home without 1:50,000 OS maps! Have almost complete coverage of Scotland, less complete the further south of the border. Dash4it is my go to for buying them, followed up by Oxfam bookshops. (Well, Barra won’t have changed much from the 10 year old map I got recently in Oxfam.)
