I would like to find some sites in Northern Ireland That have a pup within a short walk for a few relaxing nights away

Here are a few for you to consider (I take it that you mean a PUB

Jordanstown Loughshore Caravan Park      Close to Belfast.

Curran Court Caravan Park               Close to Larne ferry terminal

Causeway Coast Holiday Park             Ballycastle (Giant's Causeway

Ballyness Caravan Park               Bushmills (close to whisky distillery

Castle Ward Caravan Park National Trust 10 min walk into Strangford town

Kilbroney Caravan Park               Close to Kilkeel County Down

Shepherds Rest Campsite              Near Magherafelt

I would advise that you use the campsite search facility on here and add in the filters that appeal to you, there are many more sites that may suit you, but these are some to be going on with.

ALL are extremely, sure that is what the Irish are FAMOUS for!

Pub / pup… either - we took our pup (a 12 week Springer Spaniel) camping in Ireland & she had a very adventurous trip: tried eating a jellyfish (not a good idea), ran over a 30m cliff (ditto), got hit on the head with the rubber tent peg mallet (thick skull but hurt feelings), was spooked by cows and charmed everyone: she was our passport to chatting with so many very lovely welcoming people. Very happy memories!
And the pubs had great craic & superior Guinness too.

It's about 50 years since I was a student at Queens, Belfast and have seen little of the province since then. I doubt if I'd recognise the place, but I do remember Curran Court, so it's obviously been there for ages. I seem to recall that a bypass was built that missed out most of Larne including the campsite.

The locals used to joke that the best thing about Larne was the boat to Stranraer. It's long gone too. I expect that you have to travel from Cairnryan.

Heading north a few miles along the Antrim coast road, I believe there is a campsite at Carnfunnock country park.

Pubs? I don't like stout of any kind and I couldn't get a decent pint of bitter. I wonder if that's changed too.

Anyway, enjoy your trip and one place I would think about visiting is the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum.

The OP hasn’t said where they’re getting the ferry from. If Scotland, then yes: Stranraer harbour is vacant, the 2 ferry companies each have their own terminal at Cairnryan.
Troon catamaran was great for us, but it’s no more. Campbeltown to Ballycastle was fun while it lasted too, but doomed to failure.

Even the idea of a bridge between the two countries has been scrapped. I very much doubt if it would have been feasible.

Shepherds Rest near Draperstown (Derry) actually is a pub.
Annalong Caravan Park (Down) is in the middle of town beside the Harbour Inn.
Kilbroney Caravan Park (Down) in the forest park of the same name is 0.5 mile from Rostrevor town which has loads of pubs and trad music.
Glenpark near Gortin (Tyrone) is part of a bigger estate that has a restaurant and bar.
There are lots of sites in both Portrush (Antrim) and Newcastle (Down) which are pub laden tourist resorts.

the bridge was never feasible, partly because of cost, partly because of the high currents and wind but mostly because post WW2 the UK government dumped vast amounts of explosives in Offas Dyke right in the path.
