Has anyone had any experiences of pop up sites? I imagine they're a bit of a gamble and just depends on who else has booked. I'm also thinking that the owners won't be as engaged as a regular site owner.

often the pricing on them as i have seen on facebook is rediculous! no facilities at all and wanting £10 per person! a family could go to a proper site for less.
often the term gets used for going on rallies with either the c&cc or camhc, they are a different story altogether, usually around £10 per unit and only on that field for a weekend unless its a temporary holiday site, and although your using your own facilities at 99 of them they are good value, with plenty going on for the whole family
I have stayed on a couple of pop up tent sites and had a great time! Friendly enthusiastic owners, special touches etc
I guess it depends on the site.
They can be ££ though. They are sometimes trendy with reception run from a shepherds hut bedecked with bunting selling artisan farm foods, cocktails , etc
One opened near us for 28 days at Llandudno.
It's 20.00 per night for a family of 4. includes loos and showers, no electricity though.
They serve pizzas and allow fires it's easy walkable to the marina and shops and great for ZipWorld, Conwy etc.
It's been really popular so far, seen pictures and reports that show last weekend was a roaring success with literally hundreds of campers in an enormous site.

There’s one up the road from where we’re staying now. It was a Certificated Site with CCC until recently. I think the facilities are still the same as when it was a CS, but being a pop up has specific meaning with the local planning authority & they’re not limited to just taking CCC members. (Yes I appreciate from other threads that people go to CSs who aren’t CCC members & just say they’re left their card behind.)
