Just north of Bellingham, Northumberland on the B6320. Directions state to approach from the north. Does anyone know if it would be ok to come from the south? i e. from A69/A6079.

Going from the north you'd come off the A68 onto the B6320 and have about 5 miles of twisty-turny B road. Going from the south you'd join the B6320 near Chollerford and have nearly 13 miles of twist-turny B road.

Use Google street view and it's painfully obvious why you should approach from the north (as advised by site), real chalk and cheese difference!
From the south the road is more tortuous, with quite a few tightish bends, but the big worry is the low arched bridge with a 13'6" clearance at it's centre, you'd almost certainly need to negotiate that in the centre of the road (straddling the centre line!) to clear caravan on the much lower sides of arch, that'll place you substantially on wrong side of road going into a tight blind RH bend IMMEDIATELY after bridge!!!!!! - an accident waiting to happen, anyone approaching will simply not see you (or you them!) until you're nose to nose!

From the north, road is far more open and much gentler bends with no bridge issues!

I ALWAYS plan my routes using Google Street View if forced down country lanes, been down plenty in a solo car that get tricky, don't want to find myself in that situation with a large caravan in tow!!!!!

My advice to always to adhere the route stated by the campsite as they know the area well whereas visitor's usually don't. As an example, I ran a rally for a club a few years ago and there were two ways to get to the farm entrance from a main road either way. The shorter route was used regularly with large agricultural vehicles such as tractors and heavy farm machinery so my advice was in the interest of both land owners and visiting caravanners alike but just one of the visitors decided to enter via the shorter route and met up with an oncoming tractor in the opposite direction which didn't go down well. The visitor complained to the rally stewards but he at the end of the day he didn't have an argument because the root cause of the problem was that he thought that his sat-nav was a better navigator than reading the information in the interest of everyone.
