Hello one & all,

I have a few questions regarding looking for a 'seasonal' (or residential) pitch.

What is the etiquette regarding searching or using these types of pitches? I would intend to use it 4 nights out of every 7, using it as a working base and heading home on days off, so definitley not going to be resident more than 28 days/month, but I'd like to leave the unit set-up and come and go freely. For anyone with any experience, would I need to declare my intentions or do the owners turn a blind eye to such comings and goings as long as you're respectful? Would a CL/CS site be any different/worse?

Can anyone recommend such a site in the Suffolk/Essex region please? I have spoken with one, but it is more money than I expected at over £600/month.

I take it you have looked at the Camp Site Search Facility and played around with the search filters?

Try the Site Search & tick on seasonals plus anything else you want. If you then click on Certificated only, you’ll see if any sites are left but they’re less likely to have a laundry for example.
This topic crops up regularly, if you search the forum. You’ve hit the nail on the head talking about “residential”. The site license is for leisure use, hence the rule about not staying more than 28 days consecutively & the site may well close for a month over winter too. Working folk go home at weekends; families may only use their pitch at weekends: we’ve all seen both types on sites.
£600 pm is £20 a day? Sounds quite cheap to me.

2024 = 18 sites / 38 nights. 2023 = 9/23. 2022 = 13/35. 2021 = 11/29. 2020 = 4/20. 2019 = 13/35. 2018 = 20/33. 2017 = 10/22. 2016 = 19/33. 2015 = 15 sites / 27 nights. Didn't count 1976 to 2014.

Have you tried the Oaks at Bucklesham, near ipswich?
