Hi all,
After a long time away from the forum, now post kids the wife and I want to get back into a caravan. However I’m no longer interested in towing so are looking for a seasonal pitch in the South (We are in Berkshire).
I’m fully expecting to have to get on a long waiting list but would anyone have any recommendations or even better know of anywhere with vacancies?
Many thanks,
Rich

I don't know how far south you meant, however, Birchwood Tourist Park which is my favourite campsite near Wareham in Dorset, is worth a try.

Thanks DK, looks like a great place to start.
I’ll drop them a line
It's a lovely site, and big too. Hopefully, they will have availability for you.

Sorry for the delay in updating, we ended up actually going a bit more West than South, ending up in the Brean area. Having a dog it’s got some great walks with the beach going on for miles.
So pleased to say that we move onto our seasonal pitch this weekend at Diamond Farm, so can’t wait!

As well is two words!

Good that you found somewhere so quickly & for this year too. That’s encouraging for others looking to do the same thing.
To be honest I was quite surprised by how many still had spaces. I’d tried to get a seasonal spot about 2 years ago and they were like hens teeth, so I was expecting similar this time around.
However I must of contacted about 10 sites I liked and probably half of them had spaces. In fact the one we’ve got is one of the newer type fully serviced with the en-suite ‘pod’ attached.
At the time of enquiring about them (wife is a bit of a camping snob!), I was told there was a lengthy waiting list. ‘No problem’ I said just pop me on the list. I then get a call about three days later saying we’ve got 3 pods come available, which one would you like!
Maybe post Covid people are starting to travel more and are now getting bored with the staycation?
Anyway suits me, I’ve got no desire to go back to towing around the narrow lanes of Devon and Cornwall, I’m quite happy just to have it sat there, and jump in the car to be at the van/beach in 1.5 hours when I feel like it.
