I have just come back from a long weekend at Whittlebury Hall in Northamptonshire - - fabulous hotel, good food, superb staff, really great weekend.
I noticed that in the grounds they have fields set aside for temporary camping for events at Silverstone and have just enquired about prices for the grand prix weekend. I have no intention of going, I was just being inquisitive but can you believe £380 for 3 nights in a field with no electric or facilities.

I live in Silverstone and, believe me, there are very many people prepared to pay the prices. Most of the fields round here will be turned into temporary campsites. Some will have portable facilities and many of them offer bars and entertainment in the evenings. The village has a real buzz and I for one love it.

I had a look at the campsite when I stayed at Whittlebury - I wouldn't mind staying there and doing a spa day, but not when a racing event is on!
