Same here, but what we class as a perfect site may not suit everyone. We don't need loos or showers for instance. I have seen otherwise good sites marked down for lack of soap or loo rolls.

But a lack of soap is a health and hygiene issue and definitely deserves to be marked down.

As we have our own facilities it doesn't bother us, but yes, there should be soap.

As above, each reviewer has different wants and needs, and all reviews are subjective. Totally agree with the OP though.

I quite often include details that are outside the site. It may be useful for someone to know that the shop in the village is closed in the afternoons or the local pub as being flaunted by the campsite is incredibly expensive.

However, I obviously wouldn’t deduct points for the site itself over any associated info.

Many of those will be me

It's my review, if the site is perfect for me it's 10/10 from me.

I'm not looking at 5 star loos etc. I research well and thank those for the reviews that enable this.

For me it's a campsite - it doesn't always need to be more than "enough' for me to be perfect.

I agree DotP

I often deliberately avoid sites with EHU and favour compost loos as they tend to deter those who turn up with trampolines, projectors, tellies and other noisy stuff. No argument with anyone who enjoys all that as part of their trip but what I want is quiet, space, a fire to cook over and no light pollution.

Ah, but sound doesn’t carry from caravan to caravan as it does tent to tent.

(But I avoid sites that take caravans too so no chance you will disturb me

Sites often sell themselves on the external amenities and location, so to some extent it's justified to review their claims on that as well as the actual site, "5 min stroll to beach" that turns out to be a 30 min trek is worthy of comment IMHO.

Re OP, if they didn't claim a convenient stopping point on route, then ridiculous to complain and mark down for absence!

I agree soap is important in a campsite loo as long as its in a dispenser and not just a bar of soap. Yuk I'd hate to think where that bar of soap had been.

Well, soap isn't that important in campsite loos, but if you know beforehand you can take your own. I always do anyway. And toilet paper. We camp in France.....

I don’t think I’ve seen a block of soap for years! (Apart from my own.) I’ve known liquid soap to run out if the site is really busy though. Hate that soap that looks like foam, doesn’t seem to lather well.
We did have to BYO toilet paper at one Lake District site because they washed the ladies with a hose & the toilet rolls got soaked. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t take the paper out first.
