The best idea is to follow the CMC site official directions as that will provide the best route to the site.

Some of the roads in the area are not suitable for caravans so it is really important to ignore your sat nav and follow the instructions on the CMC website. We were there a few years ago and had a few hair raising experiences following the sat nav without the caravan on days out.

I agree about following the club directions but we did have a very sticky moment following CCC directions to Slingsby site. The map gave no warning at all about an arch over the road passing Castle Howard. We were in our previous old Autosleeper Clubman, neat size with rounded corners. I had to get out & guide OH through and we only just squeaked through. In a bigger boxier shape of MH, probably our current AS Nuevo, we would have had to reverse & turn round. I’ve marked my OS map in case we return to that site.

Its been a while since I have been to Hawes but I seem to recall you need to pay attention when you turn right off the main road just before getting to the site. It might be an idea to check the final approach (its not difficult) on Google Maps to familiarise yourself.

I was there in August and agree with the above post. As you come into Hawes you will see a children’s play area on your left. The right turn is very shortly after that but the sign can be easily missed (or at least we found it difficult) If you miss that you’ll be into the middle of town and quite dodgy in a caravan I would think. We were in a motor home. Have a look on Google Maps beforehand and ‘drive’ it and acquaint yourself with the road sign.

Just to add - turn right at the signpost for Hadraw and also Muker which I should say is almost immediately after that aforementioned kids play area
