Always at Christmas. This year we are going to Whitby with 2 stops en route. Last year south Devon, before that near Truro, Lowestoft to see relations, Skipton, Haverfordwest, Ulverston, Windermere...all over the place.

That all sounds lovely . I’m looking for some ideas for winter trips but worried about weather .

Any particular area? We are going to a CL near Bourton on the Water soon. That is worth seeing if you haven't been. Not far from Cheltenham either.

Some where central Cotswolds draw a large circle around that area x we live in Shropshire x I was looking at some of the club sites they are a lot cheaper at this time of year . Especially the c&cc .

I looked at cl / cs in the summer . A lot were almost as much if not more than club sites .
We do like toilets and ehu , this might be why .

I can recommend both Moreton in Marsh and Broadway CAMC sites Great walking in the area for both (go to Batsford Arboretum in winter - just fabulous), good public transport links (appreciate that's not as important to a caravanner as to us motorhomers !) fabulous pubs and restaurants in walking distance and more within 20 mins drive or less. If you can get a good price at either of these certainly worth a look.

Moreton in Marsh is nice, we haven't been to Broadway. Personally I have little interest in xmas We may fly off somewhere warm in the new year to escape our winter.

Definitely not for us. Limited funds mean we restrict our outings to when it is warm and sunny. Our caravan is now laid up for winter and won't be out again until late spring. I hate the cold anyway so winter is for staying indoors.

Last time we went away in the winter (December) was 2019 when we went to the CMC site Bladon Chains (now closed) so we could visit Blenheim Palace Christmas Show. Previously we had been to Chatsworth and Warwick. Since covid our enthusiasm for winter stays has decreased. We are in our mid to late seventies and I have to say that the comfort of our home is more appealing in cold weather!

Like Mrs Bonce, we go away all year round. Up until last year, we used the main CAMC sites, which weren't overly expensive out of season. Now prices have gone through the roof, we use CLs, CSs and independent sites. Depending on how long we go for, we either don't go far from home, or if part of a 2 or 3 week trip, will go further afield. There are many sites open all year, it's just a matter of some research on where you want to go and looking at reviews. This website is great for searching out sites, you can stipulate what you want on a site, and see what's available.

We are in our mid 70s too and the last time we went away in winter was in 2002, and then we went to Southern Spain for Christmas, where we walked on the seafront in temperatures similar to June in Britain. That was in addition to the holidays in this country that we had in that summer. Since we retired we can no longer afford to do that, so now our home, with its several rooms and central heating is the place to be. Our caravan, however much we love it, is far less appealing when the outside temperature is at or below freezing. It may be warm inside the caravan, but our whole caravan is considerably smaller than our main living room at home, so we wouldn't want to be stuck in there with the only alternative being to go outside in the wet and freezing cold.

I was thinking of a few days 3 or four .
I am the same age as a lot of you . I never book until the last minute and always wait to check the weather. We don’t usually go all year. In 2019 we lived in the caravan (2 berth ) for 4 months while waiting to move .we never use our shower etc in the van so always braved the trip to toilet block . We were in it until November 22nd snow and frost once . I just thought shorten the winter, visit a few nice places . Maybe just one short trip before Christmas not too far from home .air the van charge the battery .
