I booked the adult-only pub site for the New Year weekend in October 2023 when I was staying there, good job too as they only have 8 pitches and is now full!
Just tried again to see if they have any availability over Christmas and it says no availability from 24 December 2023 to 02 January 2024!
Very pleased with myself as they have already advertised events for 30 and 31 December that I would like to attend, and am very pleased that I am staying there as there will be fair amount of cider and perry drinking involved!

Beaches that are normally closed to dogs between Easter/May to September allow dogs in winter.
I went on a day trip to Sandbanks beach in Dorset with my old dog driving nearly 2h each way once. So glad I did as it was like a doggy beach party with lots of dogs running around and playing with each other which was a joy to watch!
I did not stay at my favourite campsite as they had no planned activities over the festive period. If the weather was foul, I would have been stuck in my tent with the dog.
I just checked C&CC's site and they appeared to have availability in "Central" England for caravans over the Christmas weekend.
BTW, I had lost the deposit in the past for cancelling too late - change of management meant change in practices, in that they would keep the deposit if booking cancellation was performed too late. Their justification was that they had to turn down bookings, which I could understand.

Some great ideas and places . sandbanks is amazing. My parents had a pub years ago so we always had a busy and fun Christmas and new year .
I think no more than 2 hours travelling in the winter is enough .

We do 2 stops between Luton and Whitby. No more than 80 miles between stops for us. Near Loughborough now, near Selby tomorrow, 2 nights each.

My location is Shrewsbury so I look all around at approx 2 hours drive may be less or slightly more .
I use the Malvern area a lot .
We used to live in south wales and used the Cotswolds a lot as will. I tend to use CMC or C&CC sites . Three came up with space for new year . Kingsbury. Conkers . And Oxford . I have been to Kingsbury in the spring . In the winter I don’t want to be too remote .
You say that you used to live in South Wales. Have you looked at or tried South Wales Touring park. Not a CAMC or C&CC site but it is a Tranquil Parks Adult only site with just 25 pitches. Not sure if they still any availability

How far are you all travelling or is Derwent water close to where you live ? It looks a stunning location .
Have a lovely time everyone .
We travelled 129 miles. No snow here but lots on wind and rain.
We are on pitch 30 so say hello if you are passing
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
Weather here is not too bad at all. A bit dull and grey, but at least its dry and very mild for Christmas Eve. Worked the last of the Epping Ongar Railway's Santa Specials today and I am now home warm and comfortable in my armchair where I plan to stay until I go to bed. Spending the day at our daughters' tomorrow about 3 miles away, and that is the furthest I plan to go until into the New Year.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you all, wherever you may be.
Very mild here at Sleights near Whitby. 15 degrees in the car earlier. Was very windy but calmer now. We are alone on a perfectly ok CL. Suits us perfectly. Think we will sunbathe tomorrow.
