At £1 per unit we spent about £26 in a week and used gas for the heating

We are a touring site, caravans and motorhomes.

Yes, with an inclusive price, you are on holiday so the last thing you will want to worry about is your usage.

The £30 usage was an exceptional maximum during the -2 deg snowy cold snap. Luckily these were extremes and not the norm. Thank goodness we have had a warmer March this year!

Not knowing how our customers heat the vans/motorhomes, it does seem that colder weather brings high usage where summer usage is lower. With more powerful heaters now working up to 3kWhr, plus water heaters. Although we don't allow charging of electric vehicles, I suppose that doesn't mean that is doesn't happen!

With regards to the original post of unit costs, ours is just shy of 90p per kWh, we would love 64p per kWh at the moment! It was very unfortunate timing between contracts with the cost of electric at the time. So although not necessarily the norm, it is definitely possible for unit prices to be high still, depending on the length of contracts that had to be taken. Commericial rates aren't often comparable with domestic rates.

The last thing we want is to out price ourselves, so here's hoping to lower rates in the future!

We are a retired couple on state pension, and when we are going to a site with electricity included we go by the total price. It's one thing to pay £10 a night for electricity on a site where the pitch price is £12 - £15 a night, but on a site where the pitch price was £20 a night or more, £10 a night for electricity on top would rule that site out for us. Especially as we don't tend to go away when heating would be required. We have electric water heating, a mains fridge, and battery charging, and that's about it, apart from occasional use of a small kettle. We tend to be off-site most of the day anyway.

At £38/night for just me and my dog (£2/night for a dog! - but NO dog related facilities to justify!) in a tourer, believe me you have already 'out priced' yourself by my reckoning! .... and I won't be alone!

I met friends on a site last week, and that would have cost me £15/night if I'd wanted to pitch my own van there! Also looking at a site near family in Essex to pitch van for a few days to help/attend a family event, and that's expensive at £30/night!

Sorry, but not very sympathetic to your not very good deal of buying electricity at £0.90/unit, you seem more than capable of recouping that from customers with plenty of money to burn, but some of us won't be amongst them!

Nor me. Won't pay more than £25 pn and that is stretching it.

That is my limit too, and it has to include the two of us, EHU, awning if we take one, and the dog when we had one. I don't mind extras if the basic site price is very low, providing the total price doesn't exceed £25. We don't go anywhere in what we consider peak-season, partly because we don't want to pay peak-season prices. I don't like crowded places either!
