If there is sufficient room on a CL for 5 or 10 caravans, who cares or is it preferable that the CL shuts down?
Times are hard and I wouldn't want to see sites closing but if you're paying a membership fee for site exclusivity then it should be just that, especially if you're stating it's members only to people enquiring about booking a pitch.
I'll know now not to book a site using info from the CAMC website alone, which clearly states CL sites are 5 van sites exclusive to members!

We stayed here for 2 nights last week (on the way up and back to the Lake District).
First time on a CL for us and if they're all like this then we'll be using more of them.
We were in the 5CL part of the site first night (pitch 1 right next to the shower pods) and then pitch 15 in the Orchard field on our way back.
Brilliant site. A bit of road noise from the M5 but didn't disturb our sleep. Lovely marina, canal and easy walk into the friendly town.
No, we were never asked for our membership details either but didn't bother us.
Great site, good value and would highly recommend and stay again.

Any cl/cs owners here? Perhaps you could enlighten us. I was once told that whilst cls/cs are restricted to 5 vans/motorhomes they could have as many tents, in addition to the vans, as they wished.

You don't need site owners to give you that info, the two club websites define what CL and CS sites are.
For CAMC CL's it's max 5 Caravans/MHs/Campers and NO tents, and ONLY CAMC members, according to the 'rules', but they get 'flexed' a little by some site owners!
CCC CS sites, officially at least is max 5 Caravans/MHs/Campers AND up to 10 tents, and again ONLY CCC members, but they can legitimately sign up to the club on arrival at the site. Some site owners do seem to apply their own rules in lieu of CCC ones!
I've certainly stayed (with my caravan) on a couple CCC CS sites even though not a member of CCC, although friends (who are members) have been booked on site at same time and have asked owner if I could stay there.
