Hi We're travelling to Brittany ib early August via ferry from Plymouth, Poole or Portsmouth. As we are travelling from Criccieth in North Wales I'm looking for campsites near to the above ports for a night or 2 before catching the ferry. I've researched these myself but with little success. We are towing a Buccaneer Commodore (8.1m long & 2.45m wide) so we need suitable access roads as we're new to towing this larger size 'van. Suggestions for night halts about halfway between Criccieth and these south coast ports would, also, be helpful.
Thanks in anticipation.

We usually go from Portsmouth and use the CMC site Rookesbury Park
Edit to add, if you use the M40, A34 route to Portsmouth, which is what we usually use, we often stop for a few nights at Greenhill Leisure Park in Bletchingdon, not far from Oxford. The site is a short drive from the Oxford Park & Ride and easy to access off the main A34 (which is an excellent dual carriageway), the site is just a couple of miles off this road.
Our unit is not as big as yours, we tow a 7.5m caravan with a Kia Sorento, but we have no problems on this route or at these sites.

Thank to everyone who replied. We've now booked our ferry out on 03/08 overnight from Plymouth to Roscoff and back on the 09/09 08.30 sailing from St Malo to Portsmouth. Now I just have to choose from the sites everyone kindly suggested. Thanks again everyone.

Hi Kenies. Riverside CP is indeed a lovely site. We have stayed here for 2 nights and our sailing tomorrow night to Roscoff. Thanks for your recommendation
