I've stayed at CCC CS Quarry Lodge about 6 years ago, but friends regularly still go there and love it. Mostly easy access, only a short distance on lanes, with one 'odd' turn as I recall. - It was my first trip when I acquired the caravan, so not quite a seasoned/experienced caravan tower back then!
About 45 miles/1.5 hours from Woody Kiln, and a bit beyond end of M4, but not hugely off the logical route of A40, if that's not too late in your journey.
Not sure if open all year, need to check with site, NEVER find I can rely on UKCS data when it comes to opening times, a detail that is not always up to date!

It's a bit bigger now than when you went there. Still a quality site though, and the Bridge does excellent food.
