Just returned from watermouth cove, ilfracombe. The site had excellent reviews describing the site to a T......except for the toilet blocks...they were disgusting to say the least, towels were wrapped around the bottom of each loo to prevent leakage! At £27 per night i feel as though we were wripped off and very disappointed. We later learnt that the site is up for sale so obviously the owners are letting it run its ground. This is one site i will never return to and will take extra care when reading reviews!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We stayed here a week a few years ago and wasnt impressed the play area i wouldnt let the kids onto as it looks dangerous.and we were in a field at the top and had a very steep little path to climb down (surrounded by nettles to get to the loos )
The area is lovely , but the little beach they have seems grubby .
Sorry to hear about the sites poor facilities.Things like that can ruin a good holiday.I was going to book watermouth cove this year due to the good reveiws but ended up going to broadway house somerset with another family we are friends with.If you are going back to ilfracombe area try Napps or mill park both are good sites with clean facilities. We spend alot of time in ilfracombe as my best mate owns a B+B there. Thanks for letting us all know about the site conditions and make sure you put a review on about it.
What was Broadway House like...stopped at Somerset year before last...thought it was lovely....holiday wasn't ruined..had 3 weeks off altogether and spent the last week in Leedsons Park the Cotswolds...an excellent site...with good loos!
Hi cathycu Broadway house was brilliant, we have a 15yr old son who spent most of his time on the BMX track also did the archery lessons with his dad, they loved it.Loads of rules for the swimming pool,no shoes,no smoking,no chewing gum,no alchohol and there was nowhere to watch your child in the pool if you had a dog, apart from this the pool was lovely and clean as were the toilets and showers, one hint though, dont put a young child in the showers as there were really really hot.will review the site when get back from holiday at tyddyn llwyn as off there tommorow.
We did Broadway House, Somerset years ago and we all loved it! I have particularly fond memories of coming second in an archery competition!!!!! Got a badge and everything, well chuffed!
And I even beat my husband and daughter. Son,(youngest member of family) came first! Whoppee! And no, we weren't the only four in the competition -lol
Lovely swimming pool too as I remember and very close to all the caves, which was where we discovered that my new Clarks velcro trainers were in fact -GLOW IN THE DARK- oh, the shame as son calls out, 'Mum your feet are glowing'........Wooky Hole caves as I recall!

We've also just returned from Watermouth Cove, went for a week and came home after three days. What a shabby site, toilets and showers were disgusting, playground was dirty and unsafe, bins overflowing with rubbish and the size of your pitch depended on the length of your windbreaks. Any first time campers going to this site would be put off for life.
Never stayed at Watermouth, but was in Ilfracombe last week and had a nosey round - all i can say is I'm glad we didnt stay there! My mum stayed there in a motorhome one easter, the price doubled from the Thursday to the Friday (cos it was Good Friday) so she moved next door to Big Meadow, which is cheaper, and in my opinion much better! Having said that, we stayed at Hidden Valley this year which was very clean and nice, but a tad pricey!!!

------------- why is there so much month left at the end of the money?
Hope you guys will be putting all this on a camp site review for other peeps to benefit(?) from in the future? Not enough people put reviews on - they're my camping bible!!!!!!
