Does anyone have any recommendations for a small quiet campsite with basic facilities and good walking nearby(within 10 miles)

I know there is a campsite search facility which i can use but would be interested to hear from anyone who has been to such a site recently. Hoping to go in early September in a small 2 man tent

Stewart

Where abouts do you fancy? in the lakes? Keswick/Windermere are always popular, personally Keswicks my fave town in the lakes...Hawkshead is great for walks...in fact you can't go wrong for walks in the lakes!

Maybe one of the national trust sites will suite you....

Just spent a week at Great Langdale National Trust campsite.

Spectacular setting at the foot of The Pikes & Bowfell. Superb site but very busy and you can't pre book......and The Old Dungeon Ghyll pub is a two min. walk away.

Can't go wrong really.

was there last weekend and stayed http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2243 not a bad place was very quite and clean...was a bit out they way for us though and the road up to it is up a few twisty turns

have no idea about walks around that area we went out every day in the car all around the lakes....very nice, but when you are used to seeing big hills and lots of water every day...it was like being at home for us

We had 5 geat days at Ullswater staying at Cove Caravan and camping park last month. See here  It was quiet, very well maintained, cost us £13 per night (plus 20p pieces for shower) and had toilets, showers, laundry facilities, pot washing area indoors and a freezer for ice-packs. Best of all,  we went on great walks straight out of the gate so we did not need to drive anywhere.

We particularly enjoyed a circular walk we did over Gowbarrow Fell to the spectacularly steep waterfall Aira Force ...........oo just talking about it brings the amazing scenery back to me here at me desk!

It was exactly our kind of place, with very helpful wardens who know the area well, and we will certainly go again.
