Hi

I need some recommendations for a nice campsite this bank holiday in Derbyshire.  Ideally around Chesterfield/Bakewell area.

I don't need much but toilet/shower facilites that work would be essential.

I am a single camper just touring the area for the weekend.  I am planning to visit Chatsworth and Bakewell and wander in the peak district.

Hope you can help.

x

Try Mandale House - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=4679

It's a basic site, with toilets, showers, and pot washing.  They let you pitch where you like, and charge per person.  Very peaceful.

Only about 10mins from Bakewell.

Hope you find somewhere for the weekend, and just spotted it's your first post, so welcome to UKCS.

Kate.

Hi flowerchild

We visited Rowson House Farm last year in July. We thoroughly enjoyed the place simply because of the scenery. The facilities were basic but adequate, the toilets and shower (only one) was situated at the highest point. There were further showers down the road at the farmhouse itself. The ground for the tents are terraced at three different levels, if you manage to obtain the top terrace the view is buudiful!!! The week-ends were a bit popular but during the week we almost had the campsite to ourselves.

It's situated close to the village of Moneyash post code DE45 1JH and Bakewell is not far away, 4 miles I think.

The good news is we think it's a great campsite, the bad is they are fully booked for the bank holiday. I thought I would mention it to you for future reference rather that for the week end. I hope you find a place and if you do and it's a good one let us know

If you fancy a nice walk or cycle while there do the Tissington trail. 13 miles of virtually level ex-railway line.

Greeting
Try the Bentley Brook Inn at Fenny Bentley just outside Ashbourne,
the camping site is just across the road from the pub.

God luck with finding somewhere though, as I suspect everywhere will be full.

We stayed at the Caravan Club at Losehill this month - would recommend it as a nice site - in Castleton - especially the Drying Room for wet clothes!

Longnor Wood (adults only site) on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border is a really lovely site - facilities very good and very reasonably priced.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

Hopefully I will be able to get into 1 of them.

I am a very impulsive camper and have a tendancy to pack the car up on a whim and then decide where i'm going.  It has meant i have ended up in some very interesting places but as a single female camper I have got more aware and really appreciate the recommendations of people who have already visited a site.  so THANK YOU and look forward to hearing how your weeknds went.

U probably will get into Haddon House Farm, OverHaddon on same road as Mandale and Rowson mentioned above.  Great site don't take bookings for tents - although I know all the hook-uops are booked.
