We went to knight Stainforth as everyone on here seems to rave over it. I expected great things.....I was a little dissapointed. Yes the views are brill and there is a new shower/ toilet block but I don't think the floor was cleaned for the whole of the time we were there, the smell was not nice, and O.H said the mens smelled terrible even after bank holiday and lots of people had gone.
I have never seen so many dogs OFF leads and wandering round on a site before, one depositing a poo by one of the tents, the dog owner had no idea it had done it. I told the site owners but the same dog was still wandering around until they left several days later. One dog pestered ours while trying to walk them in the dark, it wouldn't stop following us. o.h mentioned again on leaving about so many dogs off leads the lady said we should have told them at the time, and we told her we had. But perhaps this is why some people like the place, because they are not made to keep their dogs tethered.
The site is in a lovely location just a shame about the loo and dog thing, don't suppose they are too bothered what I think though, cause they were full over B.H.
I am not a moaning minnie, and I do have a lot to compare it with, we have been to about fourteen places this year already.

Hi
We went to the leeds festival and had a great time in the arena, the bands where great, 4 stages with different band and very well run, unfortunatly I carnt say the same for the camping, I expected the toilet to be horried, the tents to be packed in next to each other, maybe a bit noisey at night, not bothered by any of that, well apart from the tent 6 foot away putting there stereo on at one in the morning till dinner time and it was so loud my hubby who had his ear plugs in thought the bands had come back on ( saturday night ).
But nothing could have prepared me for sunday night, there was lots of rubbish between the tents, so lots of campfire where lit, security kept going round putting them out but as soon as they went away they would light them again, there was a couple right near our tent and lots of noise, I didn't dare go to bed I was to afraid of the tent catching on fire and the atmosphere was really intimadating, any way by about 4 oclock thing seem to be going a bit quieter and the fires near us had gone out so I thought I could go to bed, next thing 10 min later my phones ringing I managed to find it in the dark and its my son who was camped in yellow field near the center and areana, who had been trying to find us, as we where about 20 min walk from them, apparently there was a full scale riot going on down there, tents being burnt on fires, set fire to the tree near his tent, ransaked a lorry full of beer, fighting with the security guys, oh and Iv forgot to mention the MASSIVE expolsions that have been going on as they throw gas canisteres on to the fires, I felt I was in bairut, I ended up with my son and his girlfriend and two others sleeping on the living area of out tent as they had abandonded there tents and just grabed the what they could and got out of there.
Next morning when we where putting the tent down they where still lighting fires and throwing gas cannisters on to the fires and everything stunk of acrid smoke.
I just could not believe what was going on, it really shook my son up, he'd been the year before and had a great time, but say's he not camping at a festival again, he'll just get day tickets instead.
Any way that was my bank holiday, but when we came home we went to a little campsite we know for 2 night and we where the only ones there, bliss!!!! what a contrast. only thing when we put the tent back up there are two burn holes in it, luckley one is on the mud flap and there is a tiny one on the back of the bedroom wall, im hoping well get away with that one.

Mmmmmm hit the wrong button there so not sure if this is a double post now - if so SORRY.
Caroline you should be proud of your daugher I bet you want to shout and tell the whole world especially last Thursday when you looked at that piece of paper with the results!
We went to Hawes for the weekend it was excellend. Weather wet on Sunday but we still managed a walk from Muker. Monday was lovely, a nice walk fish and chips - then home yuk! People were arriving as we were leaving that was depressing.
No camping this weekend as we are off to the Lawns Caravan show to dream...!
Next weekend its SANATA POD so lets hope the weather is good as hubby stresses all week before we go - and has done for the last 30 years - lucky for me I have only known him for 8 of them!

We went to Lower Hyde on the Isle of Wight. Although we were staying in a static caravan, I phoned the park before booking to ask if it was ok that our vehicle was a motor home and to see if there would be any problem in parking it. I explained that I was disabled and that I needed parking right next to the caravan for my adapted motor home. They told me I'd be in a private van with it's own parking bay and told me to tell the call assistant what they had said when I made my booking. I done this and the girl read back to me "Disabled person in party, needs parking next to caravan". All fine - until we got there... Our 'van was in the middle of a field of other vans, and up a grassy bank, which I couldn't manage. The parking area was a small layby off a single track, and there wasn't enough room to pull the motor home in far enough, so the back end of it blocked the road. I phoned reception and asked them to come down and have a look - they wouldn't. They called me back 20 mins later and said that they would send one of the maintenance guys down. He took out a piece of fence so that we could pull the motorhome forward onto the grass, which was ok, but still didn't help me get the 50 yards to the caravan from the motor home. He also gave us bollards to put out when we went out. First time we went out, someone pinched one of the bollards, and the others were simply moved out of the way and people just carried on parking there without leaving the promised space for us. We then had to park a further 50 yards away down the hill and I had to be virtually carried by my husband and son to get to the caravan. Next morning when people went out, we brought the motor home back up to the parking area and put the bollards back behind it, and decided to leave the motor home on site so we didn't loose our parking and go off into town (me on my electric scooter). We came back to find some ignorant had reversed in round the bollards and parked literally six inches from the back door of the motorhome. My scooter has to be taken apart to go in through the back door, so the only option was to reverse it back and block the road. We couldn't move over to the side as there wasn't room, and if we went the other side of the car, the fence was in the way in front and the trees in the way behind. I was so tempted to leave a message on their windscreen saying I hoped they would be disabled one day so they knew just how ignorant other people could be. Hubby went to see security later, who promised that the duty manager would be down shortly. We waited until 1am, but he never showed. Next morning I went to see the park manager, who looked extremely miffed that I'd disturbed his card game on his computer. He was as much help as a chocolate teapot, and had nothing to suggest, nor did he apologise or show any concern. He did admit that my request for parking next to the caravan had been overlooked, but done nothing about it. I've been going to Lower Hyde for the past 15 years, and never received anything but first class service. However, after this fiasco, I certainly shan't be going back. We thought we would stay in a static rather than camp, as we felt we would have more room. We visited the camping fields and feel we would have been better off up there. A big thumbs down for Lower Hyde and their apalling attitude to disabled people.
