I can endorse what kegonlegs has posted. Here are my views:
1. We were allocated 209 that same weekend. It was far too small and could not pitch there with our tent. It was on a corner and cars had eroded much of the grass.
2. There was heavy rain recently and the site owners must have known that 209 and 210 were prone to flooding. They were greedy enough to still alloctate these pitches knowing that they would flood next time it rained. It rained. A very small 1 man tent in the meantime had pitched on 209. We were nearby. The man was woken up by the site warden with water inches from his tent which was pitched as far away as possible from the "road". He was lucky not to have drowned!
3. Before all that I had requested a different pitch and was told that all pitches were taken. I said that there were plently of spaces nearby but was told that they were allocated. That was rubbish because pitches could have been shuffled around to accomodate people as they arrived. The owner and warden then spoke with each other in Welsh - how rude is that!! They said we'll do a deal. There is an abandoned tent nearby. Take that down and you can have that pitch - well you can imagine I was furious but had no choice but to accept.
4. The showers were a problem - a trickle of warm water in the morning, sometimes cold. Even at off peak times the showers were no better. The warm taps would not work, so it was impossible to wash dishes. I know it was a peak time and water pressure was low, but a large site should cope.
5. The shop is a complete rip-off. Everything is overpriced compared with other camp shops I have been to. For example, they charge for leaflets that can be obtained free elsewhere and they charge an extra 10p for a newspaper.
6. This site was voted best in Wales - this is a complete joke. I cannot believe there is not one site in Wales better than this.
All I am saying is that you should be wary of camp sites that in my opinion cynically exploit campers and wonder if they should be supported with our custom.
