Having just returned from a 5 night break the location was brilliant toilets were clean.  We had 4 children with us the table tennis was by the bins located next to the road.  The park was cramped in to a very small corner next the the road and the arcade was something out of the 70's.  The site its self was beautiful but I think it is more suited to adults and children were not catered to very well.  We were also told off at 11.30 for making a noise the man who told us off had two children with him who were up early in the morning and woke us up surely it should be give and take.

Hi Lynn 39,

We were at Bryn Gich three weeks ago for a week. It was our first week away camping and we really enjoyed it. We loved the campsite and feel its our benchmark for any future ones we use. I agree re the position of the kids activities. However, most of the kids played around the tents which was well away from the road.

I think camping has to be about give and take. We had a couple who had a baby who clearly was teething and up half the night. Rather than moaning about it I just turned over and thanked god it was not me having to sooth the little mite.

Isn't the owner just the most cheerful bloke you ever met.

Question: why do people who obviously don't like other people work in the holiday business?

Answer: ....expected soon.

We were at Bryn Gloch  for 5 nights  only our 2nd time camping so inexperienced first impressions were good we got allocated pitch 210 in field 6, got everything done although i thought the pitcth was a little small, fri & sat was great then the wind came bieng inexperienced we thought the biaritz was going to blow away but it held firm all through the night then it started raining luckily we have a sewn in ground sheet all through, after a while it was like walking on a water bed the pitch was like one big shallow basin shape, but we hadn`t noticed it being inexperienced. After the rain stopped we emptied the tent and some other campers offered to pick the tent up and move us which we did after that everything was fine , but when we were leaving i told the owner and the warden that there is a problem with 210 and the pitch oppo 209 which others must of complained about before, and he said he cant help it raining i then explained everyone else on the park was ok and the one we moved to was ok. But he was still a little ignorant.   SO AVOID 210 & 209 AT ALL COSTS finaklly they will get the message, apart from those two pitches the site is very good

I can endorse what kegonlegs has posted. Here are my views:

1. We were allocated 209 that same weekend. It was far too small and could not pitch there with our tent. It was on a corner and cars had eroded much of the grass.

2. There was heavy rain recently and the site owners must have known that 209 and 210 were prone to flooding. They were greedy enough to still alloctate these pitches knowing that they would flood next time it rained. It rained. A very small 1 man tent in the meantime had pitched on 209. We were nearby. The man was woken up by the site warden with water inches from his tent which was pitched as far away as possible from the "road". He was lucky not to have drowned!

3. Before all that I had requested a different pitch and was told that all pitches were taken. I said that there were plently of spaces nearby but was told that they were allocated. That was rubbish because pitches could have been shuffled around to accomodate people as they arrived. The owner and warden then spoke with each other in Welsh - how rude is that!! They said we'll do a deal. There is an abandoned tent nearby. Take that down and you can have that pitch - well you can imagine I was furious but had no choice but to accept.

4. The showers were a problem - a trickle of warm water in the morning, sometimes cold. Even at off peak times the showers were no better. The warm taps would not work, so it was impossible to wash dishes. I know it was a peak time and water pressure was low, but a large site should cope.

5. The shop is a complete rip-off. Everything is overpriced compared with other camp shops I have been to. For example, they charge for leaflets that can be obtained free elsewhere and they charge an extra 10p for a newspaper.

6. This site was voted best in Wales - this is a complete joke. I cannot believe there is not one site in Wales better than this.

All I am saying is that you should be wary of camp sites that in my opinion cynically exploit campers and wonder if they should be supported with our custom.
