Hello there we are planning a trip down to England next year and I am looking for advice on camp site in the SW. There will be 7 of us; OH, stepson 14, son 8, daughter 4, youngest daughter 3, myself and possibly one of stepson's pals also 14ish.
Anyway I have been spending hours pouring over the Campsite search facility on here but there are just so many and I am scared I miss some wee gem!!!
We need somewhere with stuff for the wee ones to do ie playpark, but also would prefer a swimming pool and sports for the older ones to stop them being Bored!!!! All OH and I require is that there are decent toilets and showers and that site will accept our Hartford XXL. We don't require EHU.
I know the trip is a wee while away but any help would be greatfully received. Thanks!!

Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
If your looking to go over a bank holiday or school holiday then its never too early to start looking. Several of the parks will get booked up early over these times.
Where in the SW are you particularly looking at i.e. coast or countryside,
We are not too bothered whether we are at the coast or not though probably wouldn't want to be more than an hours drive from decent shops for provisions etc, though really we don't mind travelling. We would be picking up my step son and his friend from Brighton probably after the rest of us had travelled down from Scotland and set up.
Though I have visited Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset; not all at the same time right enough, I'm not too sure where would be the best to actually camp so any and all suggestions are most welcome.
Hi aileenmcq ....... at the start of the school hols we had a meet at Deer Park and Gallery
Site has a swimming pool and play area .... there's Co-Op and Somerfields a couple of miles away in Dartmouth (which looks like Balamory) ........ there are beaches close by
Thanks Caroline and Cas have added both Deer Park and River Dart Adventures to my virtual brochure; both look great. I must admit that as a kid we had some really great holidays down in the English Riviera; I love the scenery down there and have been trying to convince OH, since his adventures in England have been limited to Highcliffe in Dorset when he has to go down to the Coastguard school. I keep pointing out that in the great scheme of things you do tend to get better weather down there!!!! Just a wee tiny bit better!!! Which really is something to consider when you are setting up your inner tent first!!!
Anyway thanks again.
PS Looks like you all had a great time at the meet at Deer Park!
Hi If you are looking for a realy good site in Cornwall .Try Bude meadows .Its a well run site with a swimming pool CHILDRENS play area , small bar etc etc .Its 1 mile from the superb beach at Widemouth Bay 4 miles from Bude 7 miles from Boscastle .Tel No 01288 31646 ,web site is [www.budemeadows.com] We have been there with our grand kids who love it.North Cornwall is like West Scotland beautifull scenery ,but much better weather .I would think you will need a sleep over on your way down.Where ever you go ,i hope you all have a good time and the weather is kind .All the best Coljac

You could also consider Hoburne Torbay - Grange Court. It is in Paignton and has all the facilities you are after. It is easy to walk into the local resort of Goodrington and equally easy to walk to Paignton.
Thanks coljac and katskorner both of these look great too. We have been looking at places to stop over cause I don't think its fair on the kids to try and make the journey in one go. Thinking of Lancashire area for a couple of days both travelling down and back up.
Thanks for the information; handy to know since we will be going during the first 2 weeks of August because of the English school holidays. Trevornik looks excellent, but we're now trying to take into consideration the travel times between wherever we stay and Brighton, so weve been looking more at the Dorset area.

You will find it on the Hoburne website.
I didn't think the Hoburne in Paignton took tents?
