Has anyone any suggestions or recommendations for the Brixham area of Devon.  We're hoping to go at Easter next year, we have a 4 year old boy so would prefer a play area and possible somewhere to go in the evening.  This will be our first time under canvas in a Vango Diablo 600 so needs to be a site which accepts large pitches and hopefully EHU's.  If it was within walking distant of the beach that would be ideal.

Many thanx

Brixham Devon >> Brean Somerset???  Even on the shortest route, that's 83 miles from each other.

as locals we can say that there are not too many camp site's around Brixham, most seem to be around Dawlish / Dawlish Warren, some in Paignton and 1 in Torquay. I know that some of the sites at Dawlish Warren are within walking distance to the beach, be carefull some are up hill on the way back. The only site that i have seen (not stayed on was Ladys Mile, personally i thought that all the pitches were too close with the roads on the site running between the pitches).

If you are not on too much of a budget i would suggest Woodland Leisure Park, the touring park we found to be very good, toilets, showers, family bathrooms were all clean and modern, whilst staying at the site you have free use of the Leisure Park, even in poor weather its very good as they have a huge indoor play area, this place really is very good with children of all ages. The downside to this site is that there is no play area on the site only a games / t/v room and no pub/club.  However, when the Leisure Park closes you still have access to all the outdoor equipment. Slides, climbing frames etc.

Dartmouth is around 5 miles away.

Hope this helps, if you want to know about somewhere else in the area, let us know, we will have a nosey for you on the way past.

I'm not too sure about tents in Brixham but if you go a little way down toward Goodrington then I'm pretty sure that Beverly Park accept tents.  Loads of facilities for kids, and well positioned, roughly halfway between Brixham/Torquay, about 5 mins away from Paignton Zoo.  Check out the Campsite search as there are some good reviews shown.

We are staying at Beverley Park during the October half term.  It looks very nice.

Ooh that's the one which immediately took my notice (Beverley Park).  Hope you have a great time.  I would be really grateful if you'd let me know how you get on.

Thanks to everyone else for your tips and advice, much appreciated.

One of my sisters lives around the corner from Beverley Park.  She has been in there and says it is really good.  I seem to remember that for a while she was a member of the gym there.  I can get from my house to hers in 15 mins, so it won't take me long if I need to pop home for anything!  Neil is planning on going to work that week (he is self-employed, so he might change his mind about this when the week gets closer).  You can definitely walk to the beach from there.  I am really looking forward to going camping again.  This will be our longest camping trip so far (8 nights).

Sue
