If you are going to book for Lincoln I would do it asap as many of the sites get totally booked up.

There is a site at Metheringham with a good pub not too far out of Lincoln on the banks of the river (think Withern)

I went to the Grassington Dickensian Christmas 2 years ago and would not go again. I'm sure it was wonderful but it was so packed it was impossible to see anything. I have never seen so many people packed shoulder to shoulder like that before. You could only go with the flow and not deviate right or left without being in danger of getting trampled under foot. It is very,very popular and a nightmare to park.

hi gowser yes that is the one oak hill. and caroline hartsholme is a lovely park it is right next to where we live hope you have a nice time at the market but be warned it gets very busy.

This is what Lincolns market is like if you go in the evening, you  have to hope for rain and only then might you get anywhere near the stalls. In theory it is lovely the reality I'm afraid is a little different. We have given up going.

 

antwhere in Belgium, Holland or Germany.  Austria as well, but that is a long way to go

Thanks for the advice it looks like Lincoln may be a bit to busy for us and to be honest the first week in Dec is bit to early for Xmas despite what the shops say. Its now looking like York week before the 25th any comments on what it is like at the Yuletide

I don't know if I am too late, but I noticed whilst flicking through the latest "Out and About" magazine a feature on Christmas events with recommended sites.

I didn't get to read it but it looked right up your street with some good suggestions. (one of which was LIncoln)

 I know this is not exactly what you are looking for but tought some of you maybe interested if you live nearby.

  Lincoln showground have got a xmas show on with crafts gifts e.t.c.on 5th and 6th Nov 10am to 5pm £3.00 adults £1.00 children. Saw it in our local paper, don't know what it will be like but I expect it must be a quite a big event with it being at the showground, think it's in the exhibition halls.

How about Ulverston - driving through today I noticed this -
