stayed there this summer, thought it would be great for the kids but was really disappointed no play area on the touring park and it was situated a 10-15 min walk from the main complex, had major problems with the showers and my three year old son was scolded when water temp shot up suddenly then water stopped, i had to resort to running out of shower cubicle half draped in a towel to pour cold water over him in the sink, site staff were no help just said we would look into the problem we left early and wrote a complaint to head office and the park, never recieved a reply.i would not recommend the park to anyone

Hi

We have been quite a few times and not had one bit of trouble. We have not been at peak times and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. We usually book a late deal which is usually for a weekend friday to monday  usually around £20-00 but go home sunday night.

By the way it is at Mablethorpe not Skegness

cheers

steve

i guess you were lucky maybe its because we were there at a peak time that there was trouble with the showers , you are right its mablethorpe, i was just shocked at the response we had over the shower situation my poor little boy was screaming and bright red, thats gonna get anyone angry, i did feel that the site was more geared to selling static homes than anything else, everywhere you whent even in the loo's it was buy a static home,

i have heard that they do have a good site called wild ducks have you ben there? it more suited for younger kids

thanks for your time

Hi

Most haven sites are similar and normally a rip off so thats why we only use there late deals. Most commercial sites aim for the static market as they get more revenue.

No i have not been to Wild Duck holiday park at Great Yarmouth but we go every year to Vauxhall Holiday Park at Great Yarmouth which is a great family park.Plenty for the kids to do even a creche for the very little ones.

cheers

steve

Would not recommend wild duck site, the toilet block, men and womens, very smelly and flithy, it needed to be honest a good power wash, many people complained about the state of it.When it rained there were great big puddles in the road, the grass turned to mud, which made it harder to get on and off your pitch And this was the start of the summer holidays this year

I have to say, we returned a week ago from the Golden Sands site having had a thouroughly fantastic first taste of touring, I found the Warden very helpful and the toilet block looked new, clean and well situated. I take your point on the "no kids area" on the touring site but found that the 10 minute walk to the main site meant that there were at least 20 minutes out of the day that my son wasnt spending money!.

( I imagine that conditions could have been quite different in high season)

And as for value for money...for the week including my wife and I, my son and friend a dog, an awning and hook up.....£64.00 now thats what I call a deal!!!!!!

It seems to depend on which site you're at.   First used British Holiday/Haven 31/2 years ago, and couldn't fault it.  We'd hired a caravan, at Lakeland(before we got the tents), and reported a leaky tap.   Within about 1/2 a very polite man came, looked at it, said he need a part, and was back very quickly.   Apologied for the inconvenience.    Found the staff very helpful.  Pip kept saying that his teeth hurt, and they found us an emergency dentist, allowing us to phone from Reception.  They also checked that we had directions to the surgery.
This year we hired a chalet at Hafan y Mor.    Long list of minor niggles about the site, from the small things in the chalet, to things like the swimming pool being closed Friday, and no childrens show on the Friday.  Individually you could ignore them, but put together they added up to a pretty big complaint, to which head office have not yet replied.
On Friday afternoon we were heading over to the swimming pool to be told by another family it was shut.  They had been to reception who weren't interested.  They also said that there had been problems with the pool all week,   their son (aged about 12) had been in every day, and had yet to have the waves working, water jets rarely worked, rapids hardly every working etc etc etc.
Am giving it serious thought as to whether I would go again,   I intend to rewrite to head office enclosing a copy of my first letter and consider their reply.

  Hi all

I have just joined the site as we have recently brought a caravan, have had 2 outings out in it. Stanmore hall in Bridgenorth is lovely.

I have not been to Golden sands for a few years but used to go on a regular basis even before Haven took it over, my kids loved it ,so much going on and lovely lazy days playing on the gorgous beach. They still talk abot those holidays even now and they are 21,18 & 16. I am hoping to experiance it again next year.

We went to Havens Blue Dolphin site last weekend near filey......not one i would recommend for tourers.....no security, chemical disposal point was disgusting, pitches were very muddy, club you couldnt get in.

Yet down the road we looked at Primrose vally and that was completley different yet run by Haven.

Also looked at another site round the corner from blue dolphin called Flower of May this site is superb!!!

We stayed at Wild Duck about 3 years ago and had a good time although the unmarked grass pitches did cut up badly in wet conditions. However more recent experiences with Haven and reports on here tend to suggest it has become another of the poor mans relations to Havens static empire. Contacting Head Office is quite a fruitless affair and if you are lucky enough to get a reply it is only a standard letter. After a totally de moralising stay at Devon Cliffs and after repeated letters and copies of photographs I received a £50 voucher towards another stay so perseverance may pay off. I have never used the voucher as I find Haven sites far to expensive unless you can get a deal with very poor quality and cramped pitches. Amenity facilities are very hit and miss with pitches appearing to be at the furthest point from any entertainment. This is relevant to Devon Cliffs, Prestatyn and Reighton Sands. Wardens try to do their best but are let down in my opinion by non interested management.
