Same old story... different people like different things.

But what annoys me is the attitude of people who `like to enjoy themselves` towards others who like peace and quiet, etc, that apparantly can`t possibly be trying to enjoy themselves.

Everybody is on holiday to enjoy themselves in their own way and this should not be at the expense of others enjoyment around them.

All thats needed is abit of common sense from all, whether it be from early morning dog walkers/barkers, parents/gaurdians of children just being children, music lovers, hard of hearing tv/radio listeners, early morning leavers warming their engines, late arrivals clanking tent/awning poles & slamming car doors, pub returnees, or people sitting around having a late drink & a chat & a laugh, etc, etc,......

If everyone just put a little thought into how their actions may affect others around them or maybe look at how they would feel if someone was doing something to annoy them, then maybe EVERYONE COULD JUST ENJOY THEMSELVES.

Funny how nobody ever complains about the bloke reading his book in the sunshine or the couple playing badminton outside their unit or the people strolling round taking in the scenery or the lady doing a watercolour in her awning or the chap doing  his crossword, etc, etc .......     surely some of these actions of people enjoying themselves in their own way must annoy someone, at least the nocturnal party people

Hi, with 2 kids 3 & 6, I am knackered by 10pm, but would think 11pm is a reasonable time to turn it off.  The only time other people's noise has really annoyed us, was when they had bad taste in music - then it should have been compulsory to turn it off at 5pm!

Strange how those who like to 'enjoy themselves' by chatting loudly etc after midnight get upset when those who get to bed early wake up at 8am and start to enjoy themselves!

Thats not always true, I stay up late talking, but would never complain about people making noise early in the morning, or anytime really. Different noise annoys different people, personally kids shreking bugs the hell out of me, but I know they are just being kids so wouldn't dream of complaining. If people want total piece and quiet perhaps they should give wild camping a go....wherever there are people you will get some types of noise at different times. unless it is a loud stereo blasting out at 3am I think you just have to shut up and deal with it.

I just think it is a matter of consideration.   It is quite easy to disturb someone without realising it.   But if your actions do cause someone else a problem then why not just say sorry and stop what is bothering them if it possible.

But if it is your desire to have real peace and quiet then it is not a good idea to go to the sites with all the amenities and find smaller places with less units.   I found a lovely field in the middle of nowhere in Sussex this year.  Desperately wanted to stay there, but there would have been no friends for my daughter to play with.   You have to compromise don't you.

My last trip out there was a woman who was on a pitch quite away from ours but here friends were on a pitch opposite us.  Every morning, when I was sitting having breakfast she would drive round in her diesel car and stop outside friends pitch and wait for the kids there to join her and take them to the beach.  No problem you would think but she sat there for 20 minutes one morning with her engine running about 2 feet from my table.  I asked her politely if she wouldn't mine switching off her engine whilst she waited and she told me to "f**k off"!!  I was gobsmacked.   Or was I being unreasonable?

Talking at 11.15 isn't unreasonable. What is, is 20 plus Bikers partying in tents at 3am singing Bay City Roller songs and Gary Glitter's " Do you want to be in my gang?". Would have been hilarious if it hadn't been in the middle of the night. We still didn't complain, however!!!!

How can one complain about bikers singing Gary Glitter songs.  You have to feel sorry for them don't you?

it was very funny in one way because we had walked passed them when they were in the local pub. They looked really scary and resembled the band members from ZZ top but they were all stroking their beards and pondering whether or not to have sweetcorn with their steaks. We like bikers as my husband always had bikes and looked pretty scary himself when we first met but I was starting to feel desperate when they were still singing at 3 am. We discovered they belong to a club and have found their website so the next time they plan a meet on our site, we can stay at home if we want to. The other option is to get up and join in!!

I just imagine big butch bikers singing a Bay City Rollers love song though.   It really conjures up a picture doesn't it.  Get on their website and take the  p**s a bit.   I can't remember the words of any of the BCR songs now though.

People dont realise how much sound travels at night, when there is little other noise to hide it.  A child's cough can be clearly heard 300 yards away on a clear still night!

Both the CC and C&CC rules say no noise between 11 PM and 7 AM.  These rules have been sanctioned by the memberships and been in place for many years and have been adopted by many other camping and caravan sites.  So it appears that there is sufficient opinion among campers and caravanners to have arrived at an acceptable solution to the issue of noise at night.  I suggest the reason for this is that most people are happier with a guaranteed period of no noise so that they can get a decent night’s sleep.

Ho, Ho....Wish someone had told the weather that a week or so ago down in the New Forest...The rain was horizontal at force 7 or so all night , did we sleep? Not a chance!
