Hi

I am in Shetland Isles at the moment,  [ I work here ?? ] There are a few sites that can be used , Clickimin Leisure Ctr in lerwick has a campsite , it's about a mile from the ferry on the back side of the town.   email  mail at srt.org.uk  www.srt.org.uk.  after that there are several guest houses in the island that allow camping.

Try Valleyfield guest house at Brae, which has a campsite  email  Valleyfieldguesthouse at hotmail.com............   I reside in Brae when in Shetland ........very handy for the north end of the isles . Let me know what info you require

Also try www.visitshetland.com

Hi Martin

Welcome to the site  Sounds great up there, after reading this thread I sent for a brochure of shetland isle and now it is on my list of must visits. We would go in our motorhome so it sounds as though it would be mainly wild camping. It is only a few days since I got this idea from on here so have to think about when would like to go.

Is there any problems with midges there.

Jen

HI Jen

No problem with midges .........there's enough of the blighters for everyone. Ratio 1,000,000 to 1, they only come out to play in August / September on muggy days ....trust me they can drive you banana's. The best time to visit is in June ...total daylight for the month.......sadly the place is also full of bikers celebrating 'Simmer Dim'   hundreds of the two wheelers !!.  So July is probably your next bet. The Ferry can be very expensive   see Northlink ferries web site www.northlinkferries.co.uk

There are a few places that let you stay on their land but I do not know of any places that have any hook-up facilities..........an empire waiting happen !!!

Blowing 70 knots at the moment ................phew

Martin
