Does anyone know of a nice reasonably quiet campsite in lincolnshire that me and my stepsister can take our 5 kids for a few days away in the summer holidays? Definitely don't want a haven type campsite, a mown field with nice toilets and showes will do fine, as long as it has plenty of room for the football and tennis. Dont want to go too far from home.
Thanks
Kate

Trailer tent, caravan and too many tents!

What about Smeatons Lakes, Newark? Plenty of room, nice toilets and showers. There is no playground though. You can walk into Newark from the site, which is a lovely town.
Don't fancy the idea of having contractors caravans on the same site as me though. When they say they're welcome on their website it's kind of offputting!
smeatons lake is a lovely site if you want peace and quiet I personnally dont think its child friendly to many lakes, and could be dangerous for small children. Idle for fishing though.

what ages are the kids, can you pack bikes too... I always favour Sherwood Forest Caravan Park - look in campsite reviews just type in Nottinghamshire - its not far from Lincs! Its a safe park for the kids to cycle round and you to relax, they do provide entertainment but not the big commercial park sort, and there is lots to do locally for you all. If its warm and you have a dinghy (the sort you use at beach) you can use it on the lake - its not deep - but you would be out there with the kids anyway. Friendly has a nice shop (small but plenty of penny sweets for the kids to be bribed with etc?!)
Kids range from 11 down to 5, can take bikes, Sherwood forest site has mixed reviews on the campsite search, although it would be good in that it's not far from home in the event of bad weather.
The site is open all year, if not too far from home why not have a ride out and take a look, just call in at the shop/office and then mooch around I am sure they won't mind. That way you can see if it is what you fancy. If you walk through the gate at the bottom and turn right you can walk through to the farm park next door and see quite a few animals for free! If you like the place you can book whilst visiting and you're sorted! Clumber Park, Sherwood Forrest etc all nearby too.
another vote for bainland, loads to do for the kids, indoor pool, super adventure play area, indoor courts for tennis and badminton, super bar serving good food. we went last oct and it was great, would be even better in summer.
