Hiya' Sparky,
Happy New Year my friend and many thanks for the Itinery above. I have printed it all off and will certainly take a look see when we get up there. We are hoping to get away for the last two weeks in May (but as we are both retired teenagers this might be stretched to a third week if all is good, weather etc.)
Thanks again to all members for their helpful input.
Regards
Les Wilson

Hiya' Jan,
I am taking all this information onboard and will report when we eventually return......thats IF we return. From the posting up to now we may well become Scotish gypsies and stay up there. ( I did spit when I typed the g...word. Honest.) lol.
Sandal has always had that kind of reputation and we were very dubious when we moved here a year ago as now.......but really they are just nice folk.....with one or two exceptions naturally (like us for instance....lol)
thanks again
Best Wishes
Les

Having done both I would cast my vote for the East coast, lots of lovely little fishing villages, especially along the Aberdeenshire coast, check out Gardenstown and Banff to name but 2, inland - good municipal site at Turiff - in fact Aberdeenshire has several municipal sites, my favourite is probably Stonehaven, which also has an excellent fish n chip shop. West Coast is more dramatic overall, but is also windier and wetter.
No, anstruther has the best chip shop in the harbour!
looks like we are in for a trip to the kingdom of fife come september, purely in the interest of scientific research you understand

But itīs all right now, I learned my lesson well.

Hiya' All,
By the way this thread is heading we shall probably be seeing more UKCS members on our Scotland trip than we have come across since joining the club....lol
We have planned our route now and are heading up the West side the first week in June (before the midges get out) and then across the top, and a last week trecking down the East side before heading back home to Yorkshire. We shall be looking out for other members. Thanx to all for your help.
Regards,
Les Wilson.
