Hi we are looking to go away at the end of August to the Great Yarmouth area. (dont mind if its around that way) The campsite must accomodate large tents as ours is 7m long. Not bothered about it having pools/entertainment etc. Any recomendations will be gratefully received.

"Rose Farm" at Burgh Castle (about 4 or 5 miles from Gt. Yarmouth) has a very good reputation... I haven't stayed there myself, but this year that will change...
Unfortunately, I don't know how to do the 'links' thingy (I'm useless on the computer!) but, if you look on 'camp site search' on this site, you'll find it...
Site fee's are reasonable and Burgh Castle is lovely and quiet (used to live there, many moons ago!)... Have a look and see if it suits you, it's definitely quieter and 'cheaper' than 'Vauxhall Park'...
burgh castle is lovely i used to live there too - bout 18 years ago!!
rose farm is a great site, it's got everything you need but it's lovely and peaceful. if you want a bit more life try liffens just up the road but that can get a bit rowdy.

I'm a 'bit' older than you Billie... I lived on "Charlie Liffens" site, from '78 to '80... Spent many happy hours in the 'Queens Head'... Before that I lived in Gorleston... Happy Days!...

Funny how you get these little 'coincidences' in life Billie... I lived close to the Gorleston ferry, that crossed the river to Gt. Yarmouth... Sound's like you lived in the 'posh' end of town, by the 'cliffs & beach'... I used to venture down there occasionally, to walk the dog on the beach... Oh... and to spend the odd (most weekends!) night at the "Ocean Room"... And you're right, it hasn't changed much, which is nice!...
I too can highly reccomend Rose Farm, lovely site, can not fault it. The people who run it are very friendly, and the shower/toilet block is the nicest I have seen. Nice big pitches too, especially on the main field.
Also handy for Goreston beach which is one of the nicest beaches I have been to.
We like Outney Meadows at Bungay. Looks a bit tired as you drive in the entrance, but the actual site is lovely. You can hire bikes and kayaks on site, and Colin ( the owner ) is very pleasent. It's about 12 miles into Yarmouth, but if you're taking kiddies to the beach I would suggest Lowestoft. If you're not taking children you can get some great live bands at the local pub, 5 mins walk from the site.
wasn't the proper posh part of town, just a little terrace house near the 'foo yuk' chinese takeaway. lol - funny how i remember the name of the chip shop!!

We stayed at Rose Farm at the start of December and I can confirm it's an excellent site. We've also stayed at the Camping anc Caravanning club site at Kessingland and it's also very good.
Are you wanting to stay within the Great Yarmouth area or within travelling distance, if its the latter then Cromer is a wondwrfull spot with a lot of sites nearby. The best we found was Incleboro Fields, see the reviews if you are interested
just a wee note....liffens is now known as Breydon Water, and owned by Park resorts, a smaller version of Haven! Stayed their in July Last year for 2 weeks and had a good time.
