This campsite has positive reviews, but can anyone tell me whether the evening entertainment disturbs the peace and quiet of the camping area?

The other half really likes the look of this site, but I'm nervous because last year we camped at a Haven site and were constantly irritated by the noise created by the disco (until 2am!) when we were trying to chill out and get to sleep.

Went down to this site in November (yes it was closed but arranged withsite to take a look around) Its a large site covered in chalets and a few "brick" bungalows with space for tents limited to about 60 -70 pitches as I remember. They are all at the side of the entrance road and could be a little noisy.

The entertainment block is also quite near to the entrance and concequently fairly close to the tent pitches.  It is quite possible you will hear the evenings entertainment. However I would imagine that most people will be walking away from the tent pitches at throwing out time.

The site facilities looked to be very good and after our visit we decided to book one of our summer weeks at the site. Unfortunately we were too late to book the week we wanted in the summer so demand may illustrate that it is a popular site. We will be booking a pitch there in 2007 or possibly the late October half term this year

Thanks for the response Nigel, I now have another question whcih you may be able to answer.  In the brochure it says that some tent pitches are some distance away from the amenities.  Presumably they're referring to showers etc, but do you recall whether they were a real trek if you were unfortunate enough to get a remote pitch?

Also how long is the walk to the beach?  Two boys and a rubber dinghy etc etc make for an uncomfortable journey it if's too far.

Thanks

We went camping there years ago and have never gone back camping though we have had a chalet a couple of times. As we didn't get on the bookable pitches we ended up finding a spot we could use - we were in a tent probably as far as the site stretched back from the beach and facilities (no problem with noise from the entertainment) and had hells work getting all four sides to peg down properly, the cooker stand was propped up on pebbles on one side and we all slept badly.

My parents were in a camper van on the booked pitches and luckily had a toilet with them which we popped inside the tent at night as the walk to the loo was so long. If you woke in the night needing to rush - forget it you would never make it. OH used the car to take the boys to get washed in the morning and empty the loo. Put us off camping there for ever.

we are just back from beachside 7/7/07 been their two weeks ,it is one of the most laid back and quiet camp we have been the club is in the main building and we had no noise on the camp at all after 10.30 no running around no noise nothing but peace and quiet the entertainment starts 14 july for 6 weeks and is normally a comedien or lone singer a couple of nights a week the owners are next door to the club so i doubt they would allow any trouble at all we have booked for next year already
hope this helps.
phil
