For lovely rural site, with great facilities, well kept,  nice people, (no bar or entertainments ) try Knight Stainforth Hall at Settle, here

Of course everyone is different, but we loved it when we visited on a UKCS meet last year, and will certainly be going again.

What about Red Bank Farm overlooking Morecambe Bay.  A bit basic, no entertainment but lovely views and a great place for kite flying.  Look at reivews.

We stayed at Abbey Farm Ormskirk and thought it was lovely. Really handy for Southport if you fancy a day at pleasureland. The toilets and showers were really clean and spacious. The kids play area was nice as well. When we arrived it had been a really wet weekend and the pitches weren't at all waterlogged.

I did write a review but not sure if it's on yet.

Just checked and it's there.

Try a site called The Plassey, about 3miles outside Wrexham. One of the best run/cared for sites we have stayed on. Surrounded by countryside, has a lovely 9 hole golf course, indoor pool, shop, badminton court, craft workshops, an expensive restaurant and a good value food service at the golf club house. And how's this for the ultimate accolade : I'm banned fom going there (for an offence I was innocent of) and I still recommend the place.

Wyreside Lakes is good too.

Set in an old farm with lots of rolling coutryside. Has a lovely quaint bar and restaurant serving excellent food.

Also on site is a huge fisheries and beautiful walks among the many lakes and the river Wyre. In Season there is entertainment in the function room, which i believe is a converted barn. Childrens playground and play area too.

You'd be hard to find a friendlier greeting anywhere!

Willowbank just outside Southport is very friendly.  No shop on site but shops nearby and within easy reach of Southport.  Sand dunes at the back of the site and kids have freedom and space on the site.  Good for dogs too.

Willowbanks just outside Southport, theres one in Southport just off sea front cann't remember what its called. Silverdale is fantastic but as said a bit pricey but with great facilites (indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, restaurant etc.,). Im a member of the Caravan Club let me know where you want to go and i will look it up for you. Some are non member welcome.

Good luck and happy camping

Kathy
