If looking for a commercial site Lickpenny gets good reviews and is near matlock of junction 28 M1 so not far from doncaster. See campsite reviews on this site.
Clumber Park, Lickpenny, are both great Rowntree Park also very good but just noticed they are booked every weekend until 9th June!! Goosewood at Sutton on the forest is also open all year and very near the park and ride to York.

thank you everybody that has responded to me I have checked out a few sites the only problem with a lot of them they are not open until march time we were hoping to take the caravan away before then. thanks again i will have a look at the sites that have been recommended and see which ones are open and which ones are not full, i will let you know if we are successful. We did book to go to Skirlington at easter but the site is fully booked, we are on the reserve list but i dont know what its like for people dropping out so we will have to see.
If you go to Clumber Park make sure everything is double locked, padlocked and chained down,we were there a couple of years ago and people were having bikes stolen of the back of their cars during the night.Even aquarolls were being taken,it`s a real shame, the location is great but the security is a problem.

Lickpenny, Derbyshire is open all year. We were there only last weekend, our second visit in 2 months! Matlock Bath is worth visiting but was quite busy (Its heaving in Summer) We walked up to the heights of Abraham, but I wouldn't reccommend this, it was very steep, the cable cars start running in February. Also worth a visit are the mining museum and the Masson Mill complex as well as Cromford, we did a nice walk along the canal and had visited Cromford Mill on our first visit.
