Hi, suggest you join the camping/caravav club. This will save you money on your site fees, also you will receive a bumper camp site book for England/Ireland/wales/Scotland. It tells you all tourist information, local shops, pubs, towns, walks, interests and the next nearest campsite if you want to move about. Also, this site has campsite listings/reviews. I do not know the name of the site, but my daughter lives in Newent, Gloucs. She said that there is a beautifull campsite about 1 ~ 2 miles away, she said its like a little oasis and lovely scenery where ever you look or walk. She is 8 miles from Gloucester.
Hope to have been of some help ~ Keep looking ~ you will find somewhere ~ then you can share it with us.
Happy Camping.

Hi
I dont know of anywhere in the south east but for longer trips Landguard camping in Shanklin in the Isle of white is great, its a short walk into shanklin with all its shopes, pubs, resturants, the beach, chine, old thatched village, crasy golf etc.. and the station which you can use to go to ryde or sandown and it also conects with the steam railway for a few days out without driving.

Also C & CC site at Keswich is a five miniute walk into the centre as well and on the edge of the lake, theres shops, resturants, pubs, cinema, swimming pool, pitch and put, crazy golf, rowing boats and the launch on the lake that you can use as a bus, theres also lots of busses to other interesting places a few minutes walk away.
