Can anyone recommend or just remark on knowing a campsite at the southern-ish end of Cornwall that also has static caravans (I know, I know, sad eh). No clubhouse/bar etc please, children's playing area would be nice. Oh, and allows dogs.
Thanks.

We once found by accident a tiny site at Praa Sands. Its called Lower Pentreath camping and caravan site. It has 15 pitches(sea view) and 3 statics. 5 minutes walk from the beach and village with pub, restaurant etc. When we were last there in 2003, there was no play area for the kids. Really loevely site ans so cheap too. Our kids were not bored here. mixed with others and were so close to the beach etc.
Try a search on Trencreek Farm in St Austell. Camping, caravans, statics, chalets, log cabins also eurotents! Loads of space for the kids plus play areas. Farm animals to pet, fishing lakes, tennis court, warm swimming pool. No club house but a tiny bistro that opens til 10.00pm. And they take dogs . Great place!

Thanks again. It's quite interesting how the prices seem to vary. There are several in the £200-£230 bracket for the week I'm after and then there's some that are up in the £350+ region. Other than being larger sites, there doesn't seem to be much reason why, facilities are much the same. Do they hope that people don't do much research and only check out 1 or 2?

Hi, river valley at st Austells is one of the best sites we stayed at, has got statics , but not cheap, hope this helps
River Valley is at Relubbus near Penzance, not St Austell. That is of course unless there are two River Valleys!
Theres Ayr campsite in St Ives, with in walking distance of the town centre and with sea views, I haven't stayed there as I went to polmanter but they dont do statics, but looks ok from the reviews
Praa Sands holiday park may be able to help. does have a club but very small and quiet so you don't know its there. allows dogs on touring field. Really near beach and great surfing.
Many thanks all. After requesting a few brochures, we're probably plumping for Boscrege, the reviews are great. The other 2 I shortlisted didn't have reviews, I know that could mean anything, but it's nicer to have a prior vote of confidence for a place when it's a family holiday!

Hope that you enjoy Boscrege, we thought that it provided excellent value for money, and the owners are very pleasent. The toilets and showers were always kept clean, and we always had Hot water (FREE).
You must try the chippie in Helston, very yummy, and the nearest beach (Praa Sands) was, as our kids described, the best they had ever been to.
Well, following a previous post recommending Boscrege, we're trying it this June - been twice to Cornwall previously (Mother Ivy's Bay and Dinham Farm)but this was several years ago...
Hope the weather and site are both as good this time!
